Mainland Europe rejoices.
Large defense budget cuts. Big increases in social spending. Nationalized health care. Tax increase providing short term revenue increase, but longer term economic turmoil and increasing unemployment.
International agenda foresaken in favor of a domestic agenda. Allies confused and aggressors emboldened. Israel?
Strategic withdrawal from the Middle East.
I donโt see any way for the F-22, JSF, C-17, C-5 RERP, KC-45, and new UAVโs to all survive.
All just MHO.

There you go, ex-Colonial chappies. A nice big thread all of your very own.
Can we keep all discussion of the forthcoming elections in this thread, please?
Any new threads will be merged with this one unless they offer startlingly brilliant insights so far missing from the debate. (Which, on current evidence, seems about as likely as Vladimir Putin dressing up as Uncle Sam and tap-dancing through Red Square singing “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy.”)
Finally, keep it clean and respect each other please. You’re not in ModMil now! :diablo:
Thanks

Yeah the democrats showed what a bad idea it would be to in Social Security in the stock market since they caused the stock market to tank to begin with, thank you Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac.
Alan Greenspan and Christopher Cox (a Bush appointee) both said, a few days ago, that Fannie and Freddie were not the main cause of the problem. Greenspan admitted that his ideology, the ideology of radically unregulated free-markets, was wrong. His belief that the banks would regulate themselves out of a desire for self-preservation was incorrect. They failed to regulate themselves and the credit crisis is the result.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, sponsored by three Republicans, was also a major cause of the credit crisis.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, also known as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Services Modernization Act, Pub.L. 106-102, 113 Stat. 1338, enacted November 12, 1999, is an Act of the United States Congress which repealed part of the Glass-Steagall Act of 1933, opening up competition among banks, securities companies and insurance companies. The Glass-Steagall Act prohibited a bank from offering investment, commercial banking, and insurance services.
The Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA) allowed commercial and investment banks to consolidate.

The Republicans decided to throw out the wisdom that had been hard-won during the Great Depression and now here we are.

A source for the information on the idea of nationalizing the 401(k)s
“A plan by Teresa Ghilarducci, professor of economic-policy analysis at the New School for Social Research in New York”
That’s a plan of one prof., not a plan of the Democratic party.
And even she was talking about offering incentives for an alternative program, NOT taking over/nationalizing existing accounts.

also, the obama campaign, just as the mccain campaign has thousands of supporters… mistakes have been made on both sides, i doubt these guys, who were most probably college students, were actually trying to pull one over on the election commission… i think they were just kids who just weren’t completely sure and made a mistake…

Please, you can’t really expect to be taken seriously with a statement like that.
By: chuck1981 - 27th October 2008 at 04:45
Here’s the problem, this ACORN group is funded by the Taxpayers and is nothing more than a “get out the vote” group for the Democratic party. Thats what really earks me, using MY money for this crap.
Politicians.
The desire to be a politician is true testimony that you are not intelligent enough to actually make important decisions.
I absolutely LOVE this statement, truer words have never been spoken.

Oh and btw, Cuito, do you not realize Social Security, let alone Medicare and Medicaid, are teetering on the edge of collapse? WTF is the difference? I’m 27 years old, pay a great deal into all 3 TAXES every paycheck, actually probably more than you do since I’m self-employed and have to pay the employee and employer TAXES, and I won’t see a dam cent from any one of them when I want them in my later years. Now do tell, how in the hell is that FAIR?
I will agree with you one one thing though, and thats that Bush helped push through this socialist bail-out program, at least you called it exactly what it was, socialist. Funny though, how all the democrats that currently run congress aren’t socialist, even though Bush is. Give me a break.
By: suflanker45 - 27th October 2008 at 04:24
Oh please Cuito, you don’t have a grasp of reality or the facts for that matter. What’s Obama paying you?
Are you talking about that pathetic 3000 dollar tax credit for each employee an employer has. Like that’s going to make small business hire people. Besides i’ve seen ads from Obama’s campaign complaining about tax breaks for large corporations under the “failed Bush policies” and wants to stop it.
Yeah the democrats showed what a bad idea it would be to in Social Security in the stock market since they caused the stock market to tank to begin with, thank you Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac.
It looks like you are the discredited liar.

You’ve got a little more than a week (or more if they can’t figure out who voted and who didn’t in FL.. ๐ )
And on a personal note, I really hope the dems don’t win this one .. Social policies and taxing businesses is the last thing you need to relaunch an economy. Bringing the manufacturing back in the country, on the other hand, might help, because, let’s face it, except for military items, about everything else comes into containers, in Long Beach..
Actually, Obama wants to cut corporate income taxes.
It’s McCain who has given up on American manufacturing. His elite-wealthy allies make more money by outsourcing the jobs to low-cost countries and importing the manufactured goods back to the US.
And Obama and the Democrat’s are going to shatter that record the second victory is confirmed. You wish the 401k seizure is BS, the Democrat’s are using the tanking stock market as an excuse to roll the 401ks into Social (SO/SO) Security and invest in Government Bonds that earn a mere 3%.
Actually, no they aren’t.
On the other hand, they have shown what a disaster having invested Social Security money in the stock market (as Bush wanted) would have been.
My source about the 401k comes from hot asian Republican babe Michelle Malkin.:) Perhaps that’s why the liberals hate Palin. She’s a babe and the liberal women are all hags.:diablo:
Malkin is a discredited liar.
If you think there is a shred of truth to that claim then you are losing contact with reality.
By: suflanker45 - 27th October 2008 at 00:10
old shape you are not the only one who thinks McCain has sold out. The main stream media focused most of the coverage on him when the Republicans were sorting out who would be their guy. The theory was that the media felt that McCain was the most beatable guy against the democratic candidate which was Hillary at the time until Obama was getting a better response. There are times when McCain looks like he’s just phoning this in.
By: old shape - 27th October 2008 at 00:01
You Americans have been set up.
I don’t care who wins, it actually doesn’t matter.
But the McCain chap seems like a completely pointless choice. He has the personality and charisma of a wet groundhog. He would be ripped apart by any slightly strong foriegn president / prime minister.
He is so bad, he must have been put there to force you away in the other direction. The republicans must have taken a large payment for this.

this is more hilarious then when they asked medvedev who authorised intervention in georgia….
im getin interested but i dunt understend why you have oonly 2 candidates and not 10 or more ,and why others quit in free elections?
Ron Paul is right about the Constitution. Only Congress has the power to declare war, but Congress has passed the buck for political CYA reasons.
We usually do have more than 2 candidates but they get no press coverage and they have no money. I believe we will have a Green Party member and a Libertarian running for the office. Ross Perot was the most sucessful (meaning that he got a large amonut of votes, about 25% to 30%) third party candidate in recent history. Also the 2 main parties don’t want to share their power. I believe there should be a third party but any more than that would bring about coalition governments which can fall apart when someone sneezes.
By: suflanker45 - 26th October 2008 at 23:27
No, George Bush has just socialized America to a far greater extent than any previous president. And your talk about 401(k)s is pure-BS.
http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/25/palin.tension/index.html
Only in your head, mister. All the polls have Obama up by roughly 10 percent.
I believe that inflation is running much higher than 3% and may go even higher since they have to print more money to cover this 850 (700+150 in bribes to get Congress to pass it) billion dollar bailout.
Your listing the Communist News Network as your source? Well you have no credibility. CNN makes the Nazi’s Propaganda Ministry under Joseph Goebbels look like an honest upstanding operation.
And don’t give me that crap about Obama leading in the polls, again Herr Goebbels would be saying, “Damn these guys are a hell of a lot better than me!”. The last two presidental elections had the democrat in the lead before the elections and still leading in the exit polls but in the end Bush won.
My source about the 401k comes from hot asian Republican babe Michelle Malkin.:) Perhaps that’s why the liberals hate Palin. She’s a babe and the liberal women are all hags.:diablo:

i check videos in american elections for candidates-
is that old man realy republican ,he sem more left then obama?
I wouldn’t really say left. He’s very libertarian and his views tend to be typical of that..
i.e:
strong free trade
minimal foreign intervention
very small government
lower taxes
more state power than federal power
people have the right to do nearly anything they can do as long as it doesn’t affect the rights of others, etc.
in theory (and I really emphasize this part), libertarians will share similar views with mainstream conservatives on smaller government, lower taxes and other economic/financial areas.. but they can differ strongly on foreign policy and domestic issues that tend to involve religious values.

While, Ron Paul can bring a good point from time to time. Most consider him a nut (even within his own party) and only makes a stronger case for McCain regardless. As he has much better odds for reforming the US Goverment.
Really, this topic should be moved to a none Miltary Thread……….IMO
