The Steve Young Chipmunk memorial thread

This was Steve’s last post to me,

Darren – don’t EVER hesitate to post photos of Chipmunks. That’s an order.

…..and I would like to keep to my orders by starting this new thread in memory of a good mate. It’s simple….when ever you photgraph a Chipmunk, post a picture on this thread (try and use thumbnails if you can, as then the images will stay on the thread over month’s to come). Lets keep this thread updated to ensure that Steve is always in our minds. I am hoping that Nick and Damien can add a few pictures from todays funeral, but here’s a couple to kick things off.

Please keep all posts to DH Chipmunk pictures as this is what the thread is for.

CHIPMUNKS FOREVER!

Seriously if you want to take such a pic wouldn’t you think of a plastic model and some photoshop work ?

Flying is a lot easier.

Are you any good at flying low through valleys and under large span viaducts?!

It hasn’t killed me yet.

I think I need (rather badly) to replicate that with my own Chipmunk. Thanks for sharing.

I was flying to do a TV program filming about Saint nazaire during WWII (chippie was replacing another kind of british aircraft i must say…), and while we were on our way from nantes to saint nazaire a friend flew a Robin 400 in ‘loose” formation with a young “amateur” photographer (david Katta)…they winged over and he took that superb picture !!
I knew you would appreciate…

Got to second that, a cracking shot that must have been a bit difficult to take?

Yakman: That’s a stunning photo. Any idea what the camera ship was?

I’ve got to add a pic or two of WP840, the first Chippy I flew in at the tender age of 13 from Bournmouth, Hurn in 1991.

The last picture shows her when she was featured in Pilot.

has anyone got any pictures of WP927/G-ATJK

I forwarded your plea to the guy who runs www.dhcchipmunk.com to see if he can help.

I have not searched that website, so you may want to do that.

Hi all

have asked this question before on another thread but has anyone got any pictures of WP927/G-ATJK at any time during her life? she seems to have been camera shy and I’ve only got 2 fuzzy pictures, 1 at Detling and 1 at Hamble

here’s hoping;)

From the utterly superb museum at Oshkosh: Another of Art Scholl’s Super Chipmunks – this one with fixed undercarriage.

Sorry canberra-tt18 I’m not THE captainslow! A fan of T.G. and it has been used as an occasional nickname. Glad you like the picture!
