Charlie, You’re lacking all sense of appreciation for the sterling values of the EU. I’m just a little surprised that you can’t see it.
The recent successful application for a European Arrest Warrant to be issued against that rather wicked family with a very sick relative in Southampton General Hospital, tells us all we need to know about our masters in Brussels and their modus operandi.
Altho’ I’m not too clear about the detail – perhaps EU supporters on this forum of whom there must be many can enlighten us – as to what exactly the threat was, that was posed by the concerned family ? The limit of my knowledge was that the family were worried about locating the best and most effective medical treatment that is unfortunately unavailable in this country even tho’ the NHS is swamped with taxpayers cash but, is available in a relatively poor country like the Czech Republic.
Fortunately, the plot to remove the sick child was uncovered and master stroke ! the Arrest Warrant was issued at the instigation of Hampshire Police and the parents were captured while on the run and thrown into a Spanish clink.
No problem. The EU has done its stuff. We should all be proud, especially those here who frequently criticize the EU and some of its allegedly bizarre directives. What does the health, comfort and well being of one family matter against the broader picture of EU population control and federal integration.
It won’t be long before the EU are issuing an EAW for someone riding their bike without lights. Oh ! They have and he has been languishing in Wandsworth Jail for these past two months. Sieg Heil ! Herr Juncker.

The only reason I am sure it will self destruct is because, once the Euro inevitably collapses, the breach in the edifice will be too great for it to be sustainable and it will die. How long and lingering will depend on the markets not the self serving bureaucrats.

As my previous stated, the level of lies you lot perpetrate with regard to the EU is astonishing. Sadly, as the earlier post with the newspaper link showed, the lies then become self sustaining myth and belief as “everybody knows that.”

I’ve written it before and I repeat. Threats of sanctions from the EU are empty and so much bluster.
The EU is not organised in terms of collective will
The threat of EU sanctions will not work because the EU needs Mother Russia more than Mother Russia needs the EU.
The EU has no effective military muscle or in fact, any military muscle at all. At the very best, it has no military muscle that is a credible threat, because the EU has no collective will.
If a collection of individual countries possess a fantasy of federalism, at the very least they must all speak using a
common language. That is the very first basic requirement that is, here, entirely absent.
I do not believe that the EU will self destruct because of the continuing and un-relenting denials of the delusional apparatchniks who control the EU that there could be anything wrong with their Kafkaesque political construction.
The EU will cease when the contributory countries with hold their annual tribute.
No money, no EU, game over.

It is inherently self-destructive so none of us need do anything. First the Euro followed by the edifice itself. My grandson will outlive it. The level of its impotence is no better illustrated than in the charade of its dealings with Russia over Ukraine. Having started the whole miserable process by encouraging the previous leadership in Ukraine, inevitably antagonising Putin in the process and now unable to inflict meaningful sanctions against Russia for fear of compromising its energy needs, having sold those out to the most rigorous emission targets on the planet.

It all depends on how the split works – there is some evidence to suggest that Nigel is taking votes from left and right. There is still a chance that he will disadvantage Miliband as much as it does Cameron, but I’m not betting on it.
My feeling is that Carswell has already decided that the Tories wont win, so he has started the shake up early. Ultimately there is every chance the Tories will tear themselves apart if they don’t win the next election, especially with the shadow of the rise of UKIP.
There is no doubt in my mind that our relationship with the EU needs to be re-examined. I am now virtually certain that there is no chance of a referendum until at least 2022, which UKIP have guaranteed. If they really cared about that, they would look at the big picture, not at narrow political advantage.

It will not surprise you to read that precisely because we need to separate ourselves from the EU we cannot afford to vote ourselves five years of Millisocialism. By 2020 it probably wouldn’t matter whether we were in or out by the time Labour had finished with us.
UKIP is a diversion. A one-trick party with no serious broad political programne.
The only slim chance we have of changing our relationship with the EU is with the Tories – no one else.

Charlie, you might recall that on the rare occasions that we’ve had a debate on anything to do with human aspirations and upon mention of the Three Graces, I’ve always elected to uphold ‘Hope’ as my favourite.
If it was in my power to ‘hope’ or talk UKIP into Govt. Nigel would now be sitting in No.10. As you know, at present they are the only political party of any significance that promises to extract this country from membership of the EU. We both know that Dave and his vague assurances of a referendum cannot be relied upon.
So UKIP is necessarily the weapon of sole choice. When there is so much at stake; the future of this country as a self governing, sovereign democracy accountable to the people; when the guidance and control of our present and future affairs lies where it properly belongs, in Westminster, then we must stake our all on the electoral success of UKIP and the long term commonsense of the people.
You are telling me that this is the ‘longshot’ of all ‘longshots’ – I agree. But, we can’t rely on the Tories. The gamble is colossal but, I am willing to risk all on the throw of the dice even if it lets the socialists back in to ply their politics of division.
Nothing else matters. Nothing is so vital as our extraction from the EU – by hook or by crook. It might well mean that we have to suffer another four or five years of Labour reducing this country to economic penury – so be it. By pursuing their well trodden path of economic incompetence – for the umpteenth time, they might shoot themselves in the political foot so effectively that they will remain unelectable for a generation. Let me pause to think about that delicious thought !

John – I think even you might agree that the chances of UKIP forming the next government are beyond the realms of possibility. But the chances of enough people voting UKIP and depriving the Tories of victory distinctly possible. Thereby letting in by default a Millipede government with no promises to do other than maintain the status quo via a vis Europe.

Anyone listening to Dead Ringers on Radio 4 on Wednesdays, 18:30? There is a marvellous parody of Farage by Lewis MacLeod as a man pontificating from his bar stool in a pub, this week rambling about encouraging healthy eating by replacing the peanuts behind the bar with fruit so that the picture of the hidden topless model will slowly be revealed and bananas eaten, or something. Also William Hague ringing up a bakery, trying to order an oblong cake with a file in it to be delivered to Andy Coulson, with the woman on the phone informing him that she didn’t think it would be wise to do that, or something.
Very funny.
