In view of what has happened to these, and indeed other School children, and many other incidents that have taken place, involving the use of Shotguns and Section 1 Firearms.do you think that any individual should be allowed to own seemingly as many weapons as they like?.in the U.S.A.
Personaly, I think the 2nd should be fine tuned, to allow anyone to own the minimum of weapons they REALY need, And all weapons be kept in a secure place within the owners property, or at a gun club, where they are secure.
Should they adopt the same rules and regs as we have here in the U.K.
The other week, I was watching a U.S.A. program where a family business purchased and sold, also traded weapons, and one chap brought to them a pristine GATLING gun he wanted to sell, need I say more?.
What are members views on gun ownership in the States?.

We, I used to get moaned at by an applicant who failed to adhere to the rules and regs, and I had to seize his rifle/handgun etc, but if your not using it, do you really need a weapon?.

Well Rick, at least it’s a step in the right direction, As regards the use of Ammo, when I went to check a Sect 1 Firearms owners application for renewal, one of the items I had to check, was the amount of ammo the applicant had purchased, and also used since his/her last renewal.
You would be surprised as to how many had just used no more than a handfull of ammo in 3 yrs.
I know we are more civilised here in the U.K. when it comes to gun control, yes, I used to get moaned at by an applicant who failed to adhere to the rules and regs, and I had to seize his rifle/handgun etc, but if your not using it, do you really need a weapon?.

Preventing some one from purchasing ammunition for a legally owned firearm is a violation of the 2nd Amendment no matter how narcissistic and ignorant liberals may be.

What I want to know, is why a 73 yrs old is teaching gun safety, when he has clearly demonstrated that he himself, is not fit to hold a weapon. WHY does any 73 yrs old living anywhere, need a gun.?.

Because as recorded in newspaper reports, quoted in the NRA magazine, seventy and eighty year old persons have used firearms to shoot and kill intruders who think people of such an age are defenseless.
The instructor ignored rule one, check your weapon, the students learned a valuable lesson. although it was the hard way.

Thats true Chas, the Suns out, not a cloud in the sky, it’s good to be alive, then I read what Moggs had put down, I think it’s fair to say, that the old words, “Horse, Stable door” springs to mind, and Obama has found himself between a rock and a hard place, I recon a good start in whatever shape or form, would be uniformity, in ALL States, used as a foundation to start and improve the obtaining of weapons.The rest would come eventually, however, it’s out of any control whatsoever, so I guess things have reached an impass, and will remain so.

No need to apologise. It would take ages to read the whole thread; when I read back through some of it I’m surprised sometime what I’ve written!
I think many of us have learned something from this thread; it is nice to be able to get the views of American gun-owners without having our perceptions skewed by what some news-editor thinks makes a good news story.
I certainly think my views about American gun-ownership have changed over the course of this thread; America doesn’t have a gun-problem, it has three gun-problems:
Problem one: too many Americans are gun-homicide victims; does it matter if they are poor, black or the guns used are not legally-owned?
Problem two: too many (nice white affluent) children die in school shooting-sprees when a legal gun-owner (or their son) goes berserk with a semi-automatic weapon (rifle or pistol) and lots of ammunition.
Problem three: a huge number of legal gun-owners own lots of guns and ammunition and don’t go berserk and don’t kill anybody.
No workable solution will solve these three problems together.
Now obviously problem three isn’t really a problem except when it relates to problem two (that could never happen to me / my son) or when it relates to the supply of legal guns making illegal guns easier to obtain (and that isn’t going to be an easy relationship to discover…..if it actually exists).

That is wrong.
It only requires a two hundred dollar Federal Tax to be paid.
Transportation and use varies from state to state.Even a class 2 or 3 dealer permit is not an annual deal and is not that expensive.
I worked at a place that had a class 3 permit for machine guns, it was about $600/year (Califailure).

They might have a point as such checks won’t necessarily pick up the nutter that killed so many people last year…but I just found out Lanza fired 155 shots in five minutes in the Sandy Hook shootings that killed almost thirty people last year.
How would a background check have prevented that? He stole the guns he used.
