quality, are we all republicans !? I like idea, until I got to President Tony Blair:rolleyes::eek:. Nice piece in the German press though. To quote a little directly to get you interested :
“It’s wrong if the head of state of a country can only come from one family. It’s wrong to furnish this clan with palaces, land and all manner of grants to spare its members the indignity of having to earn their keep and enable them to live in luxury. It is wrong to address the Windsors and, from next Friday the delightful Kate Middleton as well, as Your Royal Highness or even Your Majesty. It is wrong to see them as anything other than people made of flesh and blood, like you and I.”

I most certainly did not see it, Lincoln. I was perving over some pics on Yahoo because I saw the sister (Pippa is it?) on there. 😉

Of the pictures I did see I asked that question, one of the pilots I was working with who was in the Navy said it’s something to do with the armed forces. I cannot remember exactly what he said but it was something along the lines of – the RAF don’t allow swords (or it could have been the Army, or Navy), it’s something to do with the fact that William is part of SAR.

I too wondered the very same question. I know in Medaeval time, it was an offence, (Punishable) to draw a sword in the presense of the King/Queen.

Why didn’t William and Harry wear swords? Isn’t it part of the full dress uniform?

Luckily I had to work a late shift yesterday so I had a Royal Wedding free zone on board all day. I’d rather eat a bucket of wasps than watch it.
Take this from a Angophile by marriage and a sincere fan of most things UK…
No one knows how to put on a spectacle any better.
Say what you will about German efficiency or Japanese attention to detail…any large event worldwide looks like an ADD club spring dance compared to UK royal events like this.

Yes Charles and his generation seem to have been the worst of the Royals, I have huge admiration for the Queen and some for Philip, the newer generation seem pretty good.

I thought it was a nice affair, the Aston Martin drive whith the special number plate and the red “L” showed that they’re not above having fun.
Good for them…I do hope he won’t turn into a stodgy old guy like his father.
Coming of age in the UK-designed “swinging 60s” Charles should have been super cool and fun. Instead he turned out to be the kind of guy that runs the neighborhood garden club and calls him mum every afternoon.
About the German article…I won’t take any political advise from them until 2045.
Germany lecturing anyone on politics is a bit rich, and has as much currency as a German anti-war song. :D:diablo:

what, no royal wedding thread?
Yes there is – you’re reading it right now.:D

I loved every moment of their service and I love the royal family 🙂

Most definitely.
He was clearly laying the groundwork to go for a ride down Pippa’s Pall Mall until Philip got in her ear on the balcony, the cheeky devil. To be a fly on the wall at the survivor’s party tonight!

I can’t help thinking that was the first thing going through Harrys’ mind aswel – well ok not the first, but certainly second!
LoL. I think we all noticed a certain magnetism there!
Harry is a bit of a lad though, he’s a big strapping Soldier that can probably handle himself in a scrap.
I watched it all, enjoyed all of it. (Stbd Tonka was out of formation).
Diana would have approved.
I was half expecting Phil the Greek to have organised some of his tricks, like the “Just Married” on the carriage, or HE LP on the soles of Wills shoes so we could see it at the Church. But no, it was all proper and perfect. Not sure about the trees in the Abbey though.
Question, I noted that during the drive from the Abbey, every time William saluted, Kate bowed her head. Is this a traditional respectful custom? I don’t remember the Brides in other Royal Weddings doing it.

Oh, and Pippa Middleton is immensely marriageable.

I watched and enjoyed it, nice to see a young couple in love (you never know, they may be some inspiration to the younger generations…who knows…) and equally good to see the British people (well, a proportion of them) coming together to celebrate. We even had some street parties round my way! A day to be proud to be British, and those days don’t come often! Britain can certainly do pomp and pageantry when the occasion calls for it.
BBMF/RAF did the nation proud too. Anyone else notice Princess Kate saying “Look at that, perfect formation”, or something to that effect, when the Tonkas and Tiffies flew over? On the basis of that observation alone, I’d happily call her Queen when the time comes!;)
