Hi,
My wife is shortly going to a conference in Manchester and I thought I’d go up as well. But as I don’t work for her firm I will have a day to spend there. So what is there in that city, or the outskirts, that will interest an aviation fan?
Tony.

I went there in the 70s and I swore then that I would “NEVER go back” to the city and luckily up to now I have not returned.:eek::eek: PS Grey Area you could add my name to your list ???
What do you mean, ADD you to my list? :diablo:

The Museum Of Science And Industry on Liverpool Rd has an entire hall devoted to aviation, and entrance is free.
Well I went to the museum and it was very interesting. Could have posted pics of everything there but here are some of the aviation part. I haven’t been this close to a Shak before and never seen one flying. Awsome plane!!

I’m afraid television shows like Shameless with Frank Gallagher (David Threlfall) and the Chatsworth Estate… don’t paint a very good picture of Manchester to the rest of the world

I have not been there since the mid 90’s. I enjoyed the times I spent in Manchester.
Were you heavily medicated at the time???

It’s gone all touristy now. Still 20+ curry houses plus the specialist Sweet shops etc, but it isn’t like it was back in the 80’s 90’s where you could eat a starter and sweet for a fiver, or go to “Charlies” for a suicide curry. It was a Vindaloo with gunpowder and battery acid. Pointless really, so hot it couldn’t be tasted.
Back streets of Bradford (Bratfud) is the best curry mile now.People like to knock Manchester, but it is the most developing City in the country and has been for several years. They’ve made a damn good job of the City centre (After the IRA bomb). London city is just an immigration dustbin, Birmingham is on the up again at long last, but the crime rate is way too high at present.
