Just had word back from the Forum Copenhagen. The reply was:

“Yes we are convienced that the exhibition took place in Forum (that is before it was bombed in 2nd world war – it now looks somewhat different). We will try to find out the exact year next week and get back to you.”

I googled and came up with the same as you Eddie, and was about to make the same suggestion but you got there first!
On my next visit there I will try to get inside the Forum building and see if it matches – however I have no idea when my next visit will be – but I always take my camera!

Thanks for eveyones attempts to locate the exhibition, much appreciated.

I was sent 2 CDs full of Danish Nimrod photos a couple of years ago, I think there are 100-150 photos in total. I got them to use in a book I’m doing on the Hawker Fury/Nimrod. The manuscript is almost ready to go to the publisher and I am trying to tie down a few loose ends.

The signposting clearly points towards Denmark as the location.

Marines Flyvevæsen (Danish Naval Air Service) acquired two Nimrods from Hawker in 1933 and built a further 10 under licence from Hawker between 1934 and 1935. They were in service until 09.04.1940. I believe drawings from the Danish National Archives were used in the restoration of TFC’s Nimrod.

A Danish roundel seems to be visible on the upper wing of the floatplane on the left hand side in the first picture; this aircraft could be a Hawker Dantorp of the Danish Naval Air Service.

The building structure looks like the Forum exhibition hall in Rosenørns Allé in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. This was built in 1926 and is still in use as an exhibition hall. It is definitely not the Main Station in Copenhagen!

My guess would therefore be Forum in Copenhagen, sometime between 1933 and 1935 (as the aircraft has obviously not been finished).

Unfortunately, no suitable Danish internet forum exists which I could point you towards for more help.

Where did you find the pictures? Couldn’t find them on the official RDAF homepage?

It looks like some sort of stadium to me.

That was my first thought, too, Dave, but to my knowledge (having been there many times, since my best customer is there) Copenhagen railway station (presumably the largest in Denmark) just doesn’t look like this at all.

I see the word “FLYVNING” (“AVIATION”) in the background which would seem to indicate somewhere in Denmark.

Got it now, it is Kidlington, during the Shackleton Sales weekend from 6 to 8 May 1960.

I have lists of air races and participants at home and can probably track this one down. Does look like Halfpenny Green though.

G-APJb ex VR259 first flight 11/11/59,cof a 6/5/50 Hearts & Essex Aero Club Stapleford,Southend Corporation 3/61,DP Golding Thruxton 12/66,JF Coggins Coventry 3/73. Its certinally not pictured at any of its bases.
Sadly I no longer have my copy of Putnams British record breaking and racing aircraft or I could tie down its racing history.

Aircraft from initial photo is Prentice G-APJB, which is still flying today with Air Atlantique (see Avatar) and has an exceptionally fantastic pilot. (me)

How about this one then, does anyone recognise these fuel pumps?

A bit before my time but I think its White Waltham, my dad has some photos with these,or similar ones in.Of course I will probably proved completely wrong! :rolleyes:
