There seems to be no particular reason for it but from the middle of June each year this Forum goes Flying Legends hysterical.
What is the reason? Why does this airshow mean so much to the people that post here?

Where else can you see 30-40 Historic ‘Warbirds’ fly in formation together at the same time….Ive been going for 9 years and every time it puts a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat.
Can’t explain why but all the history, not only the aeroplanes but the pilots, crew and the stories of bravery and valour which its like we will never see again.

I’ve posted some piccies from todays arrivals on another thread but must admit I’ve never been and probably never will despite living just down the road. I must admit that even though we had such things as a B17 and a B25 arriving today I only really got excited when the DC3 and Dragon Rapides arrived. Guess I’m just a little odd. I’d happily swap Duxford for Coventry or Kemble. I guess you always take whats on your doorstep for granted.

My reason is as a tribute to my late grandfather, who passed away in October 2000. I have been heavily influenced by him. Legends is one of the only times memories of him fondly return as it was this airshow that made him smile and happy and this has been passed down to me.
I have had my fairshare of legends excitement and am taking it down a knotch this year. The TFC always excel themselves with legends with a fantastic array of rare aircraft. We are fortunate to have people like Mr Grey who put wonderful shows like this on for us. One reason i believe it causes alot of Hype is because it has become renowned for its surprises.
