dark light

Would you believe it ….?

From tomorrow the state will know exactly who you’re e-mailing and getting e-mails from, and the same information about phone calls made over the internet. It will also know which website you visit ( tough luck on that one, chaps ! )The information will be available to public bodies as well as the security services. The actual content of e-mails won’t be recorded.Does anyone else think it’s none of their damn business ?

Good point mate. I must addmit it couldnt of come at a worse time. My grandad (my father figure as I grew up living with him) was in hospital and died a week later. It took me ages to get over both situations really. Its hard enough dealing with getting mugged but coupled by a death of a close relative made it all the more worse.

Ever since then i’ve never felt safe walking down the street of any city. Cornwall was the only place I felt remotely safe, and even then I was a little cautious and im 24 now.

I totally sympathise with what you say Old Shape. I cant believe what this country has come to. When I was 11 I was mugged.. I mean, who gets enjoyment out of mugging an 11yr old?

Disgusting.
Enjoyment implies emotion, which further implies intelligence. There is none evident.

The perp. just saw you as a meal-ticket, not a person. They are incapable of rational or emotional thought.

It struck me after putting up that last post that this thread’s lost its way so badly that it really does need knocking on the head and putting out of its misery.I still think it’s none of the government’s damn business though .

” Aiming at BumbleBee ” reminds me of the time I decided I could never marry a particular boyfriend because he’d just casually squashed a bumblebee against a bus window for no reason at all. If I had I’d be living in New York now instead of beautiful downtown Chavsville,so that bee did me a favour .

Oi! I’m an older type! (The name “Old Shape” is actually a tribute to when BMW cars had the old shape [such as the Shark-nosed 6], not like the present munterful mingers)…nothing to do with my age.
Age is compulsory, maturing isn’t.
Healthwise, at my age – if it hasn’t dried up…it leaks!

Sorry mate I should have been more specific, the remark was aimed at BumbleBee

Lucky you! On the down side, life there must get pretty boring or they wouldn’t spend so much time trying to kill themselves jumping off things.

I’m not saying it is,of course they have crime like anywhere else.I just think life’s a darn sight more pleasant there because the majority appear to have retained respect for themselves and other people .

I wonder what it is? The water? Whatever the reason, it’s good enough for me seeking a job over there 🙂

I must say I found the 7yrs living in Cornwall rather pleasant. Never had any problems down there.

Agreed, NZ is a lovely place as are the people. Though I have spent enough time there to say that they do have issues on their streets and their news stories do feature internal problems. I’m not saying they’re as bad as us! But like most places, it’s not a haven 😉

I agree, but I have to say that when I was in New Zealand last year there just didn’t seem to be that general atmosphere of world-weariness and general defeatism we have here.Hard to put your finger on the difference, but people seemed more comfortable in their own skin than we are somehow ( and I just LOVE seeing really old blokes with pony -tails ! )

I’m almost a bit annoyed. I totally agree that there are wee bug*ers on our streets and in our parliament, but we are NOT an isolated case! Idiots like this can be found the world over! You’re not going to totally escape it by moving country.

Think of the US and their horrible gun crime, or African countries that are plagued by genocide and civil war. Asian countries with their recent rioting and terrorist acts.

Granted, several of our neighbours in mainland Europe may have ‘fewer’ yobs but they are still around – as is organised crime over there.

So even though a few here may have grown up in ‘better times’, sadly it is the World today and not necessarily just the UK.

Yeah its disgraceful, yet if you see someone doing it to your car and you take matters into your own hands you’ll be the one who ends up in court.

Someone smashed the wing mirror of my mothers car today. Kind of embarressing that the young people of Britain think that kind of thing is funny. I find it shameful. When I think of things like the Lancaster, Spitfire, Hurricane and Concorde I feel proud to be British but when I think of modern day Britain with crime, teenage yobs etc I feel quite ashamed and wish I could disassociate myself with the UK.

Someone keyed my daughter’s car parked outside her student house – we seem to have become a country where some people think it’s fun to be just plain nasty for the sake of it.

Yeah, dont forget its also the Brits who voted the government in too.. As a Brit myself I didnt actually vote for Labour.

Well, it wont change until we tell them to F off.

This country would benefit from a coup d’état. 650 dead politicians can only improve matters. Mind you, a nation thick enough to watch Big Brother deserves the Government it gets.

I would once have fought for Britain, I was in the RN for a short while. Give me a gun now and I’d turn it on the Houses of Parliament during a full debate.

What’s the betting that “coup d’état” gets picked up by some erk at GCHQ LoL.

Gun = Naval Gun or an AS90. “Guns” in the gutterpress are Pistols (Sidearms) or Rifles.
Dontcha just love the AS90. It hurls a projectile the weight of a Volkswagon for 20 miles and can hit within a few metres of the target. Would hit it if there was zero wind all the way. I’ve been next to the beast when in Rapid fire mode (Not that rapid he he) and it is a joyous cacophonous musical delight that warms the heart.

I was originally shaking at first, but then just did what my grandad told me the week before he passed away. “Lad, whenever you feel nervous, scared or bad in any way. Just smile and breathe”. So I did. I was fine after that. Done the performance and thought it was amazing.

Local papers said good things too

Like the guardian ” At least Sailing – bolstered by a local choir – is unexpectedly magnificent,”

I got high fived off his support act Chrissie Hynde from the pretenders as she also said ” good luck “

Back on topic: 😀

Steve – I heartily agree with you. This country has been going Tango- Uniform for years. I was born in the 60’s (just), grew up in the 70’s and 80’s.
I remember quite a lot of what you posted! 😀 Happy days…

Even I am so http://i289.photobucket.com/albums/ll233/2woDee/Funnies/censored.gif off with this country, I am seriously considering selling-up and bu99ering off…

Off topic again! (Sorree!)

Heslop01 –
I read your “invisible” post, and can relate to several things on there…
Glad to hear everything is going better for you now.
As for standing up & singing in front of 25000 people, I don’t think I’d have the guts to do that. Even if I could sing.

Don
