I’ve been bless with a new boss who is now, sadly, being forced to sell his collection of WWII stuff.
On sale are three Luftwaffe helmets from WWII, all three are of the M-40 type, he has one each of the following with the price tag marked next to it all in US dollars.
Olive drab, single decal- $575
Blue Grey, double decal- $675
Camo, single decal- $700
If anyone is interested in them, please let me know and I’ll pass on his details
He has other stuff but since this is an airforce forum, I thought I’d only post those, if you are interested in some of the other stuff, again let me know what you are interested in and I’ll pass on his details.

Very early SS one, in apple green camo. Note the weathering and patina. This is the best way to detect a fraud. If it looks like new, it is new in most of the cases. A real helmet with a life behind it like this one can not be frauded .

umm well for a start if it is real, it is worth a fortune (unless repainted and with cheap repro decals) and if you have these items they are either fake or you got a bargin (or i’ve been incredibly ripped off). Well if you bought a lufftwaffe helmet for 40. (easily done in that state – but not an original with original paint and decals unlesss you were spotted a mile off) If you have it and want to sell it bring it here now and if it is real i will give you 500 (So, for $500 or £500, how many would he like? I will buy and resell as many as he can afford.) Postage free as i’m feeling generous!

Superb photos – please post more! The Waalse Legion one is very interesting, and the patina of the SS one is stunning. I have always wanted, yet never bothered to buy, a German helmet. I just find the shape to be very warlike for some reason. A very effective design.
I forgot to mention, Jim entered Bergen-Belsen camp too. His descriptions of Typhoons taking off in Normandy, circling, diving to attack and landing had me struck dumb – the fighting was THAT close. As far as I know he was never in contact with 609 though. I remember that one time he was around my mums when I got back into modelling. I had done a 1:72 Tiffy and gave it to him – that had pride of place in his glass cabinet in the lounge. Something little like that. My regret is that I didn’t really see him for a while before he died. I kept meaning to go around and lend him a copy of ‘609 at War’ to read, but I was too slow about doing it. I guess we all have a story like that.

Neat collection Roger , how do you manage to store it all !! , I have one of the Luftwaffe single eagle helmets , it hasn’t aged as well as yours , it has a few small dents but the decal is mostly intact , any chance of posting a few more photo’s ???

Those helmets are indeed looking as if they were made/resprayed yesterday. A resprayed helmet, added with some 15 P plastic “Airfix like” decals aren’t worth anything more than maybe 40- P.St.
I have some 50 German Helmets (aswell as some 80 from other countries) and even when they look almost “like new”. they have a 60 year patina in/on the paint and decals.
Today, I guess 95% of the German helmets offered for sale WITH decals are fake!
Going to post some of my collection, and you can clearly see the difference. BW Roger (Helmet collector since 1973)
