Bruce, is the CASA on the list for restoration then??
IWM do not do restoration.
They do conservation.:)
Well i never.
I noticed it,but then i would do as i fixed it like that.
Several Airworthy Spitfires do this from time to time, The Rolls Royce and Freidkin Mk 14s spring to mind.
Heres a link to it happening in service on a Mk 18 of 208 squadron.

A common Fix on Spitfires with a retractable tail wheel.
When the tail wheel actuator by passes internally it is a solution to keep the selector able to trip to idle.
The Hyd. lines are disconnected and blanked.
The doors have a cut out in them and are bolted together.
The mechanical down lock holds the gear down.
Soon as time and new seals allow the gear will be fully retractable again.

Just a note from today. TFC’s wildcat had it’s engine cowls off today so I guess they will start work soon to get it back to flight!
Do try and keep up, its been worked on for a while now.
I just can’t get used to seeing that bloody tractor, any reason they don’t use actual aircraft tugs?
Because we do not have one.
The “bloody Tractor” was a very kind gift from New Holland a few years ago.
Maybe you would like to donate an aircraft Tug?
Do you know the new pilots name? I bet he had a bit of pressure on him being new and In control of the only airworthy example of the Hawk 75!
Yeah i know his name.
No pressure on him at all for a man who has flown so many different types of aircraft ,both fast Jet and vintage.
The bright red bone dome is a clue…….

Note that it has been canceled by the FAA and Exported to the UK.
This is evidence that it could and will possibly be moving to the UK register!
Er….have a look at the sea fury pic on post 560
Is that a sea fury cowling above the Wildcat wing?
Its the nose ring off FB 11 VR930.
Has birdstrike damage to it.
Came with the T.20 VZ345.
Anyone thought to get AB910 and EP120 together this year as they both flew in the Dieppe Raid?
So are TFC just removing and checking/ testing componants then or just seeing in precision aerospace have done a good job?:)
Its a little more involved than that.
It is going through the same process the rest of the Fleet have gone through to gain a Permit to Fly.
Needless to say its not easy and it is taking a long time.
Creatio ?
Alonsid?
Flyting?
Sounds like flypast need a proof reader
Im sure Roobarb can offer some space in his shed :).
It never had any suitable engines.
The Beau itself has not been worked on for over 3 years now.
Two of it’s wings are in the background of the image though?
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Err, there was a bit more to it than that!
The airframe was fully rebuilt at Chino, during which time, its real identity was discovered.
Bruce
Er……and there was more to it than that as well!
