John Dibbs got a MkXVI painted in desert markings a few years back.
Not sure of the Number.
Mk V or another spit expert will probably know more
It was only water wash for one of his calenders
This is 2040 not 4020:D
Welcome to the roll out of the TFC Sea Fury
Complete with incomplete Centaurus:D
Give em a bloody shovel
I hate to say this but i have to agree with Digby.
Its to early to start saying how long it will take to re build
Even if a rebuild is on the cards i think 18 months is a rather shallow statement to make
Lets wait and see what the owner decides to do then comment
Oh Dear
Thats what happens when you do try and be helpful on this forum
Im going back to sarcastic digs
They work much better:D
JR in Spit 14 RN201
And before the outer wing panels were removed as well
Nice one
Yak 11
Forget Janie,wheres Petie!!
Cheers BWB:D
Digby
Sadly not i know a brave man who did though
Lets see….
Hellcat to Paul Allen
Corsair to Jim Read
Spit PRX1 To Justin Fleming
Spit XVIII to an undisclosed owner:D
Bearcat to TFC then Bill Anders
Whats left? Spit IX,Spit XVI,P-47,P-40,FM-2,
Anyone shed some light on P-51D Petie??
I know she was re assembled at some stage has she left as well?
Any rebuild of a Corsair is a major undertaking, this old girl would be even more difficult.
Best it is left well alone
Getting back to the original question,WoGB had a Mk 16 Spitfire RW386 which went to Historic Flying in there early days,it was sister ship to HFLs first rebuild RW382 as they both flew with the same squadron.
It was not completed, but was painted in the codes NG-D
I remember seeing it at audley end,but can,t think why work was stopped
I suspect she is at weald in a box with the others, which include a very nice P-40.
I saw janie on the saturday, but saw she had left on sunday, talked to Rob davies, can anyone tell me what…..
You know the rest
I did get talking to some bloke cleaning the Spit 14 he was very helpful
His english was bad though
