Haha really i have a deslike for any british aircraft thanks for letting me know.. But seriously all i am saying is this situation is our own fault the yanks were shrewed business men.

If you are made a fool of once oki,
if you are made a fool of twice then bad luck
if you are made a food of three times by the same person its your own stupidity.

From the jet engine to the seeker for the early Air to Air missiles were developed in Farnborough, even the Space suites early incarnations were from farnborour (DERA) for those the UK got nothing back. Infact the US to the early british IR sensor modified it and refused to tell us what they had done after we had given them the tech!

those were just some examples. I do not deslike british aircraft infact i think theirs a pool of talent in the UK being miss used.

What i do deslike is this situation the UK is in now

Now that is nonsense. Apart from 2 Billion Dollars Britain contributed with an extremly large VSTOL knowledge (BAe and R-R) also very important stuff on the JSF comes from Britain. For example QinetiQ developed a device that makes carrier landings in rough weather for VSTOL aircraft safe.

Do you honestly believe if the yanks wanted to they couldnt have developed it and gone it alone?

And where have BAe or RR in the past developed a lift fan device? If anything the fan device is taken more from ex soviet designs iirc.

The qinitiq device is something they could possibly sell to any customer qinitiq is a independent company now if the JSF group buy into it or if qinitiq are a partner in it its no big deal.

Again like i said the blame lies with the guy who signed the original contract even then US let us know that tech transfer was not going to happen, infact i think there are threads on this board from back then debating the same issue.

If you go into a shop purposefully by a dud its your own fault dont blame the seller if you are too thick. Same thing happened here.

Simple fact is the choice of the JSF was purely political just like the Apache and now its bitten the UK in the backside, as far am concerned theres no point in us crying foul now, after all these years and after signing the initial contract. The US did what any one else would have. Another thing to note is that the UK didnt take anything to the table, if not today then tomorrow the US partnership would have worked out how to make a VTOL might have taken them longer but they would have made it.

Although this deal majorly sucks i think the brits on the forum should be more annoyed with the guy who signed the initial deal. not point crying now. We have no where to turn and no other real alternative.

UK wont pull out completely it will still buy it.. The mod wont let BAe suffer such a hit if UK pulls out then US has no reason to give work to BAe systems. also it would mean that the US would not be able to trust the UK in any future systems. which would not bode well especially since the UKs ambitions seem to be beyond its capability and reach.

I like the Idea of India going for the Mig-31 or M-55 at the end of the day Altitude is king.

    India successfully test-fires Akash missile

    United News of India

    Balasore (Orissa), January 28, 2006

The surface-to-air missile Akash was successfully test-fired on Saturday from the Integrated Test Range (ITR) at Chandipur on sea, about 15 km from Balasore.

The indigenously-built multi-target, medium-range missile — having a range of 25 km — is one of the five missiles currently under various stages of development by the Defence Research Development Organisation (DRDO).

The missile was test-fired at 1230 hours, ITR sources said.

The 650 kg missile has the capacity to carry a 50 kg payload and uses the integrated two-stage ramjet propulsion technology.

Akash, having undergone several flight tests earlier, is understood to be close to the user’s trial stage.

ITR sources said prior to the test-fire of the missile, Pilotless Target Aircraft (PTA) was test flown from the ITR and the object dropped from the unmanned vehicle was targeted by the Akash missile

I dont believe force to be a good enough source it seems to be run by enthusiasts.. unless it is out the mouth of the defence minister or some one on the otherside from whome the purchase or partnership may be purchased then it is conjecture.. i mean look how wildly the 200 ship mrca deal got blown up untill rumour fed news that fed romour that fed news that india would get it and in the end the IAF says india will get 126 ships

I believe the PAK-FA the heavier variant will not be sold initally either to India or China , It like selling the F-22 which US dosent intend to do as it helps them maintain the crtical technological edge and superiority

But the lighter Mig variant for which India seems keen to develop with Russia could be exported , India-Russia may jointly develop the light Mig-E and an Indanised Mig-E with different avionic suite made for India is what India may get. and will not be exported

But the Russian variant of Mig-E will be open for export and China could also buy it.

Its like India has a say to whome Brahmos could be exported , But India does not have a say on Yakhont export , so India could do little to prevent its export to China or any other country that Russia wishes too.

OKio these gossips things really wind me up because they get me excited that india will get something good and it doesnt happen or theres no evident like the 200 ship MRCA that is not going to happen.. can you guys stay away from conjecture and hypothesis .. dwell on it too much.

also if you do have a source that india is interested in the mig 5th gen apart from a small trip then could you post it?

so the two plane theory bounded about is out the window..this makes choosing non US aircraft more critical as does not choosing the Eurofighter. india doesnt need to be the test nation for another pan european aircraft.

Didnt AFM or fligh publish a report saying that the flight hours for many chinese pilots included hours they had spent on the ground practising for the routines?
