Probably because they spend their time actually flyinh aircraft instead of jut talking about them. People like us are not worthy of their presence.

I have had one flying lesson ! so maybe your not worthy but i am their! 😀

oh i also do things with Aircraft bits 😀 ( that sounds sooooo iffy.. anyhue.. moving on)

The issue is not whether they can develop a new fighter. It’s a question of just how many will be procured, and what type of export success they can expect.

It will never be as many as the US .. since the US controls most of the worlds governemtnts hook or by crook add to the the technological superiority of the US product and the reputation that it has (in some parts of the world) they will always have the larger market share..

But if Russia can make and sell even 500 and keeps its industry alive then that will help. I also think that they are likely to sell a lot more then 500 as the F/A-22 will never be sold to anyone outside the US people are always going to want a counterpunch to that behemoth. I think China and India will both buy the Russian 5th gen .. much is touted about the J-12 or what ever its called but Chinese industry is still not upto it.

    Just a quick note:

One of the reasons the Russians might be able to quickly and cheaply design, build and test (if indeed they are able to do all this quickly and cheaply) a 5th gen fighter is that a programme of some sort has been around for some time. Many of the technologies needed are in late stages of development simply because they have been developing them for a long time for aircraft such as the Berkut and the previous LFI & MFI programmes. All I’m trying to say is that the PAK-FA doesn’t have to be designed completely from scratch.

    And it prob wont be!

and if anyone can pull it off in a short time its the Russians! the 225 didnt take a long time to completion and look at that beast!

As long as the US makes monstrosaties (not to be taken in a bad way) like the F/A-22 in terms of capability and cost the russians will be around to offer systems that can compete in terms of specific performance (performance+capabilities/cost)

Yep, I agree, that scheme is awesome. But the Mirage 2000 is a so nice plane that it looks good with any.

I wonder why some people are cheering at this? A Mullah-Run Theocracy tests a Missile and it becomes a Multi-Polar World? Wow!

Who said it had BECOME a multi polar world ?? come on now dont be so emotional i know your glad they tested the missile but atleast read the posts before you try out your lack of dry wit and sarcasm.

And it doesnt really matter if Iran has missiles or not. And i am sure you dont need to worry about Israel its a big enough bruiser/bulley to look after itself.

Dont know how “correct” these guys fly, but a pilots often stray in “restricted airspace”.

Define more by what you mean by this what pilots? heli, jumbo, glider, microlight?
