I was talking about 1995 onwards, and the coverage is just getting worse and worse, AFM did do an article on the First french squad of Rafales.
I some interviews with men in power for the RAF would be good for once, we have (having just thrown away the copies of AFM) had 3-5 interviews and stories from the PAF, and so on, heck we have had more stories about the LCA then the RAFALE.

Depends where it hits, this kind of missile impacts has been tested by USN too, and the conclusion was that this high speed can just make the missile go through the ship, doing not too much harm… I suppose it depends on where it hits, bow section, it would probably go through. But when it hits a magazine or better, in a carrier, I think there would be too much material in the way and probably causing an explosion somewhere inside the hangar… If it hits lower it could be somewhere near the reactors. This is of course pure speculation based on the known USN findings.
logically the designer of the weapon would prefer that the high KE is used to puncture the ships steel/composite and explode inside the ship for maximum damage. even if it doesnt hit the turret it would maim enough people in the ship to make it useless.

The Russians are keen on doing something to rival the Joint Strike Fighter/F-22 Raptor. And we are someone whom they have identified as a primary partner. It involves a lot of money though. It is also a question of evolving something that suits both of us. They have already started making presentations to the Indian Air Force in this regard.
Again nothing confirming India has signed any contracts or MOU’s. Here it is still saying, like the countless other reports, that the Russians are Interested in a partner and have made “presentations”. Making presentations is not the same as signing a contract to produce/buy or be a part of something.
The procurement procedure for the IAF is hazardous, and thanks to things like Tehlka etc, I doubt anyone would be happy to sign soo much money away lest they be accused of corruption or taking back handers.

Nitin thanks for this post but as you your self have highlighted it does not confirm anything it says “considering” what has happened after that is another story. The only people who i have heard say that India will get the PAK-FA are the enthusiasts and sometimes Indian media, but i have not heard India being mentioned with regards to the PAK-FA from Russia media or by Russian company i have not heard them mention the IAF when talking of customers for the PAK-FA.

A carrier-based unmanned strike and reconnaissance aircraft is a step closer to reality with the award of a $1.04 billion contract to Northrop Grumman for the demonstration and operational assessment of its X-47B design for the Joint Unmanned Combat Air System (J-UCAS).
The J-UCAS program, sponsored by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the Navy and the Air Force, was formed to demonstrate the technical feasibility, military utility and operational value of networked, unmanned, air-combat systems to suppress and attack enemy air defenses, and conduct intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance missions and precision strikes.
DARPA provided initial funding of $30 million under the five-year contract to Northrop Grumman Integrated Systems, which is teamed with Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney.

DSTA and DARPA Join Forces in Defence Technology Research
The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) is collaborating with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) in the United States of America (USA) to explore and exploit technologies. Under a Project Agreement (PA) between the Ministry of Defence and the United States of America’s Department of Defense (U.S. DoD), DSTA and DARPA, together with the SAF and US Army, will jointly conduct experiments and R&D in land warfare concepts and technology.
This collaboration will strengthen the two countries’ defence technology capabilities as the organisations share their efforts in the work on future land battle concepts, particularly in the areas of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Command and Control for the Army.
Professor Lui Pao Chuen, Mindef’s Chief Defence Scientist said, “This partnership is a testament to the strategic bilateral relationship we have with the U.S. DoD. The PA will provide a good platform for the exchange of ideas and expertise between our defence engineers and their counterparts in US. We are happy to be the first amongst U.S. DoD’s international partners to establish such a collaboration in the area of future combat systems.”
Dr Anthony Tether, DARPA’s Director, said “DARPA is interested in good ideas and new technologies that can provide improved capabilities for the U.S. military. The Projects Agreement signed by the U.S and the Singapore governments gives us an opportunity to explore new ideas with Singapore scientists and engineers.”
Mr Tan Peng Yam, DSTA’s Deputy Chief Executive (Technology), “DARPA is in the business of pushing the technological frontier for the US. They have a very impressive track record. It will therefore be a very rewarding and exciting experience for our scientists and engineers to work with them.”
“This PA marks a significant step forward to transform the Army into a third generation fighting force, which is better networked, equipped and trained. This collaboration with DARPA will allow us to tap their rich experiences and adopt an alternative approach to integrating new operational ideas with technology,” said Col.
