I think its just an artists expression of J-10 before it was shown publically. There are rumors that CHInese have ordered J-10 to PAF and they are in process of “evaluating” it. Rumor has it that we will know by June of 2004 what PAF’s plans are.

I am sure there will be tons of flame baits and retarded remarks on this scenario but, all-in-all this seems like a good option if PAF can get some French avionics for these babies to integrate western weapon systems.

if you do a search of the forum, you will find that people actually have said that the J-10 alone is a good reason for the Paf to buy a BVR truck like the Fc-1.

Although their would be some issues that would need to be cleared, any imported parts for the J-10 would need to be cleared for sale to PAF..etc.. like the current engine issue with the FC-1

US to fly more aid to Iran after 1st flight in 22 years

The first US flight to Iran since the Iranian hostage crisis ended in 1981, which carried emergency aid to the earthquake-stricken population of Bam, will be followed by more in the humanitarian mission, the US Air Force said.

The US combined air operation centre in the Gulf state of Qatar said the Air National Guard C-130 which landed in Kerman early on Sunday “carried aerial port operations and support agency experts to assess the operational and equipment needs for follow-on aircraft.”

“The assessments are vital because the Department of Defence is loading C-5 and C-17 aircraft for follow-on relief flights,” a statement said.

The C-130 Hercules brought 20 pallets of humanitarian aid and five pallets of such medical supplies as intravenous fluids, bandages, gauze, and surgical equipment, plus food and purified water.

“The humanitarian mission was the first American flight into Iran since the Iranian hostage crisis ended in January 1981,” the statement said.

Aid for Iran quake victims

The government will send goods worth 10 million baht to help victims of the earthquake in Bam, Iran.

It is also sending rescue workers and doctors. The first team includes 28 medical doctors from the navy and air force and 12 army engineers.

A source at the Supreme Command said they would leave Bangkok tomorrow night.

Civilians and armed forces officials are also going. The team will join the international effort searching for victims under the rubble and helping survivors.

The medicine, food, clothes, blankets, medical equipment and other necessities will be funded by a 10-million-baht emergency fund approved by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra on Saturday.

The Thai embassy in Teheran has contacted the Red Crescent Society of Iran, which requested the goods, along with drinking water, makeshift shelters, sniffer dogs and rescue equipment.

While flying, birds change the shape of their wings according to various flight conditions. With today’s blend of sophisticated computers and building materials, a plane now exists that changes the shape of its wings during flight, much the way birds do. The plane is NASA’s F One Eleven high performance jet that has specially adapted wing sections that can change shape or camber along their leading and trailing edges. Variable camber can be best understood through this view of the wing’s profile. In flight, the wing’s surface can be changed from flat to curved according to the flight mode necessary, whether it be cruise, high-speed, or maneuver. Termed mission adaptive wing, this technology represents a joint venture between NASA’s Ames-Dryden Flight Research Facility and the U. S. Air Force. The idea of building a variable camber wing is not a new one. It dates from our beginnings in flight, according to the program manager of NASA’s mission adaptive wing, John Smith. The Wright Brothers in their Wright Flyer also used wing warping, that is, changing the camber of the outboard tip of the wing to generate roll control, so the idea is not new. It’s just that the technology has now developed to the point where it is practical for us to design an aircraft wing to give us that kind of performance. I really expect that we’ll see variable camber wings designed into most airplanes in another ten years. One of the first practical applications for a variable cambered wing was found in a plane called the R. B. Racer built by the Dayton Wright Airplane Company in nineteen twenty. The pilot used a hand crank to manually change the shape of the wing’s leading and trailing edge sections. By flattening the surface the plane gained more efficiency and speed once it had taken off. Building on technology from the early Bell X Five, the mission adaptive wing incorporates variable wing sweep during flight. Studying the combination of wing sweep and shape may provide new insight into aerodynamic efficiency. Initially the plane will be flown manually with the pilot making changes in wing shape. Later, research is planned to make use of flight-controlled computers that tie into aircraft sensors on the plane’s wings and fuselage and automatically adapt camber to flight conditions. The ultimate goal of the program is to prove the plane’s efficiency in different flight modes from high-speed cruise to complete maneuverability at lower speeds. From this study, basic knowledge and wing sweep and camber will allow engineers to design faster, higher flying, and more maneuverable planes in the future.

Gujarat ready to help Iran

BHUJ/GANDHINAGAR: Flashback to January 26, 2001 : a quake-battered Gujarat gave an SOS call. Nearly 50 countries came to the rescue. Iran was one of them. The Iranian government had sent 20 tonnes of rice, 10 tonnes of cooking oil, 5,000 blankets, 2,000 tents, 10,000 cans of fish and medicines to Gujarat .

Back to the present day: tens of thousands of people are feared dead in a quake that rocked the southeastern Iranian city of Bam. Now, it is time for Gujarat to reciprocate. In the schools of Bhuj, children are trying hard to locate Iran and its devastated heritage town on the world map. ‘‘The television visuals are so disturbing. The historic town of Bam looks much like quake-hit Bhuj,’’ said Muktaben Gunsai, a peon at a bank.

Vachonidhi Arya of Gandhidham Arya Samaj said: ‘‘We are very eager to help the Iranians. We are searching for the right channel. If any organisation comes forward to collect funds for Iran, each one of us will contribute.’’

Eleven-year-old Parth Pradip Joshi, who was rescued by the rapid rescue team from England, is ready to donate all his savings for the children of Bam. Parth, who has been regularly going to London for follow-up treatment on his artificial limbs, says he could not bear the scenes of the Iranian earthquake on TV.

The Gujarat government plans to send a 23-member team to Bam. In a letter to Prime Minister Vajpayee, the state government said that the team is ready with the necessary equipment and can be airlifted to Iran. The team, comprising firemen and three doctors, belongs to the emergency squad of the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA). Its members were trained in the Netherlands and Germany.

The GSDMA has expressed its readiness to send equipment for cutting and lifting concrete slabs, jeeps, ambulances and rescue vans. As for medicines and other relief material, an official said: ‘‘We would have to know exactly what Iran needs.’’
