Any news or updates on Arihant or even the Indian Built aircraft carrier?
Ok time for a new game. Which among the MRCA contenders have more of a chance at beating the J-20.
a, Typhoon
b, Rafale
c, Uber Hornet
d, Gripen NG
e, Uber Viperf, none of these.
My answer is f. May be we should scrap the MRCA and buy the F 35.
None of the above, IAF need an arsenal ship that can carry 40 or so BVR and 100 WVR missiles that can be fed information from the adjacent phalcon AWACs.
80% the size to do 70% of the capability at 90% of the price. Amazing!
Its probably more like 70-80 % of the price if you keep in mind inflation.
Still a 100 million pound saving per aircraft over the B2.
I don’t get it.
everyone would know that USAF would buy 35A just to use it to drop bombs.
why not have a structually lightened 35C variant so save some $$$.
all this for extra few knots that you will not use any ways?
Dont understand…
Oh I did not know about range as being an issue, I knew about the requirement for a air conditioned hanger to probably make sure the coatings didnt go above their Tg.
B-2 never met its specification requirements. That is why only 21 were built. And B-2’s failure played a role in F-23’s loss to F-22.
The new bomber will have requirements that are much tougher than B-2. Fortunately, the industry’s technological advances are up to the task.
Just out of curiosity what requirements did it not meet?
The real disappointment of the day is the attitude of the ACM of the IAF towards the Tejas. Show some support……
Not really, I would say after waiting for so long he is being very nice. dont forget the program management errors on this has cost not only billions by way of IAF having to procure things like the MMRCA but also lost lifes due to the long period of time the IAF has had to fly aircraft that should have been retired.
What suprises me is for him to say that it is not yet a 4th gen aircraft, that is condeming in itself.
Just hope the AMCA does not go the same way…
I would just put the B-2 spirit back into production…with a more powerfull higher bypas turbo fan engine to start doing high subsonic speeds.
It cost so much because of the pioneering structure that it had in those days. Not anymore and you could imagine after the CAI work on the F-22 the US being able to make the B-2 a lote cheaper!
It could also mean the re-start of J-UCAS.
From my journalistic sources (Italy and Russia) in the industry, work on Pakfa was accelerated, the work planned on the first four machines has been ported to three prototypes and the third (T-50-02) should be mounted with almost every system on board.
(I do not know if it also depended upon the XJ-20, which I think is not new to the Russians)
hello – ciao
Any reasons or Ideas why it has accelerated? Is it all do with the contract between Russia finally signed?
These designs may come close in some areas, but the likelihood of them coming close/surpassing in all areas is highly unlikely.
Its difficult to agree or disagree with you really as we have no clue about what the PAK FA and even the F-22 is really capable of. Lets face its we have all read the promo material for the F-22 but that is all just promo stuff..
Only when the PAK FA comes into service in the IAF and the IAF goes along to red flag with the PAK FA we will know what the real score is.
250 pakfa is a large order. How any f22 will be flying in the same time frame?
Heard of the concept of coming second fast?
I’m sure they will, but to compare those aircraft with a mature platform, when they’re still behind in many of the technologies, is perhaps overstating things. I have no doubt they’ll be significantly greater threats than 4th gen aircraft.
How can you be sure of that?
I remember a few years ago, LM and the USAF too, I think (and fan-boys) said something like; “There will be ‘nothing’ that will match the F-22 in next few decades”…(I believe they mean’t as long as the F-22 is in service).
Well…
Just saying, just saying…
Not sure if we can equate the Sukhoi of today to the Russian Aviation industry of the cold war but under estimating how quickly they can come out with new aircraft is always risky.
If mil avia is to be believed the mig-25 prototype first flew in 1964 and was designated the Mig-25 and flying in the airforce by 1970. Not a bad turn around.
