IAF has to take atleast 50% of the “blame” here.Cannot imagine an airforce being so unsupportive of an indigenous program.In later stages however IAF has atleast gone some way to make up for its initial lackadiasical approach.Its farsightedness that composites were considered.If not the IAF would have surely changed its requirements and asked for composties.Just like IAF wanted the R 60 first , and then changed it to R 73 which required additional strengthening.
I agree with some of those statements, iaf creep may have caused initial redesign but how long ago? Still goes in no way explaining how after so long and such a delayed ioc the aircraft can’t still meet its performance parameters. I remember when us fanboys used to talk with pride about its aeroperformance with 9g positive limits and unstable airframe.
Choice of composites may have bee far sighted if the aircraft had met its design goals, at the moment it Is a poor choice which has jeopardized iaf pilots lifes because they have to keep flying in the 21s.
