    Here Ja,
News regarding first flight of Mig-29k

    http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/articleshow/1287441.cms

NEW DELHI: Just before President Vladimir Putin comes visiting India next week, Russia plans to conduct the “inaugural flight” of the aircraft carrier-borne MiG-29 fighter jets being produced for India.

Through the sonic boom generated by the MiG-29, Russia intends to send a strong message that it’s keen to retain the edge over other countries in supplying military hardware and software to India despite deep inroads being made by Israel, France and now increasingly, the US.

    1) Its supposed to be delivered by 2008 only right? The mig-29K’s will come first.
    2) They rolled out the first KUB, should be flying by feb 07′.
    3) Seriously no idea there..but I hope they build the planned three IAC’s.

    1) I thought it had the phalanx system installed along with 2 smaller guns
    2) 6 Seaking (US made for a change)
    3) Hopefully they will. I also hope they put in the WM-18 launchers like the Magar, Shardul class have.

India and Ukraine are close to finalising a major deal worth Rs 495 crores to upgrade IAF’s 118 An-32 transport aircraft.

A high level Ukranian Ukrspetsexport company delegation is here to finalise the contract, under which the Ukrainian company would undertake the upgradation to increase the aircraft’s life from 15 to 25 years.

According to Ukranian officials, the upgrade would commence this year and the initial modernisation of 10 to 20 medium lift aircraft would be undertaken at the Keiv aircraft repair factory.

“Subsequently, the upgradation would be transferred to Hindustan Aeronautics complex in Bangalore”, officials said.

India inducted the An-32 transport aircraft starting 1984 and purchased 118 aircraft of which presently only 100 aircraft are in service

    Indian Navy acquires USS Trenton

The Indian Navy on Wednesday acquired the 17,000 ton US warship USS Trenton.

Conmmodore P Murugesan, Naval Attach at the Indian Embassy in Washington DC, accepted the transfer of USS Trenton to the Indian Navy at a brief ceremony at the US Naval Base in Norfolk, Virginia. This is India’s first acquisition of a US vessel.

The USS Trenton landing platform dock, which has been renamed INS Jalashva, is set to be the second largest ship with the Indian Navy, after the aircraft carrier Viraat. (not true)

Indian naval officials believe that this ship will ‘add punch to India’s maritime forces’ with its capacity to participate in naval operations, peacekeeping operations, tri-service operations and humanitarian relief.

The Trenton has an unrivalled capacity to carry troops close to a battalion-strength and sustain them over a long duration.

The US Congress cleared the transfer of the vessel under the Foreign Military Sales Program in August 2005 while the government of India signed the ‘Letter of Acceptance’ on July 31, 2006.

Iran will respond by getting S-300. F-15’s are not nearly enough.

why exactly does a bunch of rafales scare you so much? Its not like libya is capable of attacking anyone in europe.

Iran Buys Surplus U.S. Military Hardware

AP) SAN FRANCISCO The U.S. military has sold forbidden equipment at least a half-dozen times to middlemen for countries — including Iran and China — who exploited security flaws in the Defense Department’s surplus auctions. The sales include fighter jet parts and missile components.

In one case, federal investigators said, the contraband made it to Iran, a country President Bush branded part of an “axis of evil.”

If the Zhuk-AESA radar is indeed ready then Mig-35 is definitely the leader in MMRCA contest. The F-18 or 16 are certainly no no’s and unfortunately rafale doesn’t have an AESA radar yet. I hope the IN sits up and takes notice. They should order 32 more Mig-29K’s with AESA radar.

Oh I see people are still wasting time with scooter and sealord onthe MMRCA, LCA debate?:D . Just forget it, as far as they are concerned a crap like J-10 is the next threat after F-22 & F-35:D and poor mousy LCA will be hard pressed to counter it. sabre versus gnats anyone?

The Mirage 2000-5 and Mig-29SMT are not likely Superior to the J-10 or at very least not marketly…………….Which, is why the IAF needs the MMRCA! As the LCA is only fodder……………

LOL The J-10 is cannon fodder for M2k-5 and Mig-29 SMT.:D . Your delusions are interesting but completely wrong. The LCA with Ge-404 In20 and MMR/EL-2052 will fly circle around a mediocre chinese plane like J-10. The avionics on J-10 are ..well chinese and not even worth mentioning. Heck even pakistan if it could afford would prefer the italian or any other western avionics on it.

In terms of number certainly. But then China always had numerical superiority. The J-10 is certainly no match for M2k-5 or Mig-29SMT but yes they can put them in numbers. Which is why LCA is all the more important for India and not some ridiculous plane like F-18 or F-16.
