    big is certainly beautiful, but…
…here’s my Seidel 7cyl radial, it will eventually power a 1/5th scale F2G Super Corsair model.
It has a capacity of 70ccm and Max RPM is about 5500/min
The valves and rods are not covered and at very low RPM you can see each single movement of them, just beautiful, as is the sound of it.

First of all: big round of applause to everyone who made Legends 04 possible.

I spent the display with a young (to me) guy from Switzerland who was excellent company (to my shame I can’t remember his name) and watched the best display I have seen for years.

nice to meet you, st170dw 🙂

To all the display critics: relax and appreciate what you’ve seen this weekend, please. For me, the airshow season lasts 2 (two) days each year, that’s it. Yes, I’ve seen more spectacular FL shows in the past, but after all it is just amazing to see and hear these wonderful machines in the air. it was worth every £ spent.
However, there is some criticism I have to support, especially about the grandstand seating.

Having met three forumites (st170dw, albert ross and a gentlemen whose name I forgot), I wonder how many forum people were standing around us on the LWM hill? I guess there’s not too many jackets with a “southern cross” motive on the back…

    cheers

Hey, didn’t mean to start a thread ending up in the blue note…

You sure have some good memories to tell, don’t you?

Example: Does anyone remember Eric Guijon (spelling?) in the Jaquard Corsair turning 360’s in front of the Gold pass enclosure after a show. This man used to start te display on the taxiway already…

    …nervous… 36hrs to go

That’s it, we don’t have any annual events that I would call a real show. 😡
There are, however, one or two good venues a year, but as a Legends regular, I don’t really feel like going, it’s just not comparable.
There was a pretty good event last summer in Mollis, a perfect place for an Airshow, the mountains are so close to the airfield, that an F/A 18 can barely do a 360 turn in front of the crowd (no joke). Thats where I saw the hunter venom vampire trio, very fine displayed. But as usual in Switzerland, this was just a one off. 🙁

In one line: A year without Leg Ends is a year without airshows for me

    getting more and more nervous…

Legends shows feature multi-aircraft displays which just blow your hat off. My suggestion is to observe the aircraft “eyes-only”. You get much more of the thrilling atmosphere (unique in the world, IMHO) this way.

    cheers, already getting nervous

Sad to think that out of the pictures above 2 of the aircraft and their owners are no longer with us.

…that is one of the reasons for me to share the pics. I looked through them and suddendly noticed how fast things have changed. And how fast we tend to forget…

…so you are saying that there will be no special entrance for advance ticket holders? I’m a bit worried about that, ’cause I won’t be at Dux before 12ish on Saturday. I’m coming over from Switzerland and cannot leave here on Friday 😡
Guess I have to take one of the smaller roads between Luton and Duxford arfield

    See ya in 5 weeks

On the IWM-Duxford website you can purchase tickets for any D-show online and pay via Credit Card (Visa, Master..). Good service. The tickets arrived in Switzerland about 4 days after the order was made.

    The web’s too small…

    great shot indeed 😀
I received the pic via EMail from a friend, took me a while to find out where it is from. But thanks to google and the fact that the background looks familiar to me…
Tolles Wetter, prachtvolle Bergkulisse; für einen Flachländer wie mich (Süddeutschland) wirklich was anders
