My fondest memories of working in the industry are, without doubt, my own Business Air days, Darren. Four lovely years under the wing of Ian Banham in the Revenue Accounts Department at Dundee Airport. If it hadn’t been for the fact that we were losing our jobs, at some point, and that it looked like we would only be offered positions in the Isle of Man with Manx, I would have hung around. Not the best paid job in the World, but certainly the one I had most fun in. I laughed to myself the other week when I read your comments about the Swiss chocolate bars being removed from the II flights – they were apparently quite expensive for what they were.
You Scots would be better with Jeanette Krankie than that Dewar!
Not that it’s even nearly funny about Donald Dewar being dead (God rest his soul), but come on Danairboy, if you’re going to slag people off, make sure they are alive first! 😡 😡 😡
Nice pics!! Love the BD DC9’s and that Balkan ‘scary thing’!
They do loads of Executive charters, so probably just one of them.
I always thought of their scheduled fares as being along the lines of Executive Charter prices!!! 😀
By jove, they are an expensive airline!
You know, I’d have to confess that Loganair would be my ideal airline to work for these days. A regional airline based in my Homeland – what could be better? Having gradually moved on from small airline to slightly larger airline then to Monarch, I now really miss working for a regional airline. It’s just so much more fun and people pull together that little bit more. It feels like a better job done at the end of the day.
Jings, crivvens, help ma boab!! Them’s impressive loads for such a new service. At this rate, Dundee will be able to justify it’s own EWR/CO service!!!
If you look at the Monarch 757 shot, look to the left, you can see a Eastern Airways J41, I wonder what that was doing there? BTW – Excellent photography Tony!
Possibly a diversion from the MAN/STN service? That’s just a guess, mind.
AZ Roma airlines?
Keep up the humour along those lines and I might grow to like you Dannyboy 🙂
Yes you can book online, they tell you your flight will cost £24 million, then by the time it’s ready it’s shot up to £240 million ! (lol) :dev2:
Tee-hee! :diablo:
It was my partner who was looking at BMIbay fares, not myself! He has to travel regularly to EDI on business and his expenses budgets wont always stretch to Business Class BMI. Also, as I said, if its cheap I go with him and do some shopping, have a day out in EDI.
I stand by my previous posts, there is no way I would take a no-frills airline for a holiday or anything.
Dannyboy,
I forgot to mention to you that my partner and I are off to ALC on ZB for a weekend break, using our annual 85% discounted confirmed seats and that, as we are both Monarch staff, we still get our food onboard for free! So there you go, all you need to do to get your free food on your Monarch flights, is to get a job with us. 😉
How about an all tartan fuselage with a big thistle on the tail??? Oh come on – you know you want to Sandy?
I always thought that the (old) Tour Operator name ‘Thistle Air’ would make a great name for a Scottish Airline.
BUT ALL AIRLINES DO IT!
………including those who give you “free” meals!!!. How come you are now looking to book all these lo-co flights, when you have spent your time on here protesting about them so much and have previously stated that you avoid them at all costs? I think Kev35 has given a good bit of advice there. Should that not be a suitable solution for you, try http://www.thetrainline.com. – but be warned, you’ll pay more on the train in most cases and you have to pay for your food and they have a bad reputation for being late. I think you should fly, enjoy it and well, no, that would be it – fly and enjoy. Think happy thoughts! 😀
Over the past 4 months, we’ve steadily seen WizzAir’s route network and frequencies increase at LTN. BUD is now more or less three a day, WAW twice a day, GDN once a day and KTW twice a day. The other morning on the way to work, there were three WIZZ A320 on the ramp at LTN at the same time. Got to say, they have a fantastic livery. Everytime I look at their flights, they are always way more expensive than EZY. I hope that greed/over-optimism isn’t their downfall.
Should I have to visit New York, I will take Continental for sure.
Everyone should visit New York – but not all at once – unless we have a forum meet there!?
Another fabbo report Sandy – nice piccies too. Not a bad looking lunchbox you’ve got there! , but enough teasing – give us the details of your bumpy ride into NAS
German joke (a contradiction in terms?) for Sandy – was it naß in NAS? I’m sorry I couldn’t come up with anything better, forgive me! 😮
