Most major UK airports (but not Luton) have a branch of Boots The Chemist.
Their “Meal Deal” – any sandwich, a packet of crisps and a soft drink for £2.85 – represents excellent value.
There is (a very small) Boots the Chemist in Luton Airport, Grey Area. It does the meal deals and things. It is, however, past the security control.

How’s about this at SFO on 2/9/04?
When I used to fly the SAAB 340, I had one take off where the right engine had a compressor stall. The aircraft yawed violently and sounded like a machine gun going off.
The pax were a little shaken.
Had plenty of engine failures and fires on the 747, but only in the sim!!!
Skycruiser. Who did you fly the SAAB for out of interest?
Why? Aren’t PIA passengers entitled to a blanket if they get cold? Cat Stevens (or Yusuf Islam) is NOT of Middle Eastern origin.
Regards,
kev35
ABSOLUTELY FRIGGIN’ PRICELESS!!!!! WELL DONE KEV!!! 😀 😀 😀
(Danairboy, take note, this is what a sense of humour looks like! 🙂 )

(no, not really, unfortunately – it would never be that much fun!)
Having flown Virgin’s B744 the other week, I would have no doubt in recommending them. I haven’t flown on a Virgin B742 for 5 years, so I cannot fairly compare but the B744 was so well equiped IFE-wise these days, I’d choose it if there were kids involved. I have posted a trip report named “LHR/SFO/LHR with VS” in the trip reports forum that gives a few details about the IFE and the service, if you need further details. 🙂 However you travel, I hope you enjoy Florida – I hope to get there myself next April – hopefully again with Virgin to Miami.
A good report Sandy. Thanks for sharing it with us. You must have felt very proud to see your livery on a real plane. Good lad!
For your ordniary working man, flying clubs are way too expensive. I have visited a few and they seem full of silver-spoons for whom money isnt a worry as daddy foots the bill. I cant believe any are on the verge of bankruptcy they all seem to be onto a nice little earner!
So, do you believe Captainben just posted this thread as a laugh, Danairboy?? I believe, he posted it as it is something personal to him and it is aviation related – and there are a few people on the forum who else it might be relevant to or mean something to, as is a forum’s wont! What makes you believe that Captainben’s posting is inaccurate? Just because you can’t believe that no flying clubs are on the brink of bankruptcy, doesn’t mean that some aren’t. You just sound bitter and twisted making remarks like that.
I wish to reiterate others’ comments recently on another thread and ask: why do you do nothing but bloody well moan constantly on here and question other forum members posts on this forum, usually without nothing more than your own (often negative) opinions to back up your claims? It’s just all wearing a bit thin now. 😡
Captainben, please accept my apologies for this post being on your thread. I for one am grateful for your post informing us of the NCL Aero Club’s position.
WHAT?? Can you clarify please, Danairboy – how is that relevant to this thread?
Oh no! Not the Aero Club – jeez! Last time I was in there was about March and it seemed to have had a revamp in the bar area (and has it been reduced in size too?? The pool table area didn’t seem to be there, like it used to be). I used to go there most lunchtimes when I worked at Gill and spent my lunch hour happily watching the planes come and go. This is when my real interest in aviation became serious enough to start being able to identify aircraft types etc.
Long live Newcastle Aero Club (wasn’t it originally the terminal for NCL all those years ago?). It’s bad enough with Gill gone from NCL, not the Aero Club too – pleeeeeaaase! 😮
Nice report and photos Comet. Thanks for sharing.
Hope you had a nice trip to Crete Jeanske. Thanks for the trip report. I wish more airlines offered those cameras.
Otherwise known as British Midland Fokker 100s and Balkan Holidays TU154 😉
And I shall now have the good grace to blush about the DC9 goof!! Ooopsy! Anyone got the number for Specsavers? 😮 😮
I did identify the TU154 correctly however, Mark, honestly. 🙂
Theres no point them charging bargain prices for the day trippers if they can charge hundreds of pounds for routes that businessmen regard as a neccessity. I believe they are doing really well at the moment, and that their yields are extrememly high on the majority of routes?
I quite agree with you on the fact that they seem to run a good business Mark and, of course, I can see why they can and why they do charge the fares that they do. I suppose I was just having a pop at them for having fares that are out of my reach (Industry staff stand-by rates excluded!). Like Loganair, who have the sheer class to be Scottish and therefore the leading edge :D, I would like to work for a small regional airline such as Eastern Airways.
