Nationwide Air – you misunderstand me – I am not disputing the nickname of the BAC1-11. I was just being a wee bit childish and having a laugh at the other meaning of ‘pocket rocket’ – please don’t be offended…..
Pocket Rocket? – that’s something else much less avionic to me!!
At Gill Airways, you’d often hear the Short 360 being reffered to as “That F*cking Thing!” by the passengers, as a sign of their disappointment of flying on the Flying Coffin/Flying Caravan/Flying Wardrobe/Flying Shoebox etc etc etc. The letters of complaint about the Shorts aircraft often kept me amused!
Dunno if this is a industry wide thingy or not either, but I’ve heard of the DC10 at Monarch being called the Death Cruiser
Ahhhh! How I miss the Dundee Courier in the morning for the stories that they’ve obviously had to go out and look for.
Some classic examples there though Ren!!
Dean.
I hadn’t heard about it until I read you post, so, I’m unable to give any info I’m afraid. I don’t suppose that any pilot will turn back just for fun though – what happened? Can you elaborate? I’m interested as a passenger and not as a Monarch employee. I’d rather the pilot turned back or made an unscheduled landing if something went wrong on a flight I was on. Surely better than taking a chance?
Poor cow! Will she never fly again period or just never fly Monarch again?
Fabulous photos Ren – keep ’em coming!!
It took ages to load up on my PC – but worth the wait – funny ha ha!!
Heel goed tenthije! Ik wens Nederland geluk met de voetbal spel.
As far as I am aware, EAL are a charter airline and therefore will not be a participant of a codeshare agreement.
EAL_King. A woman I work with went to Florida recently with EAL and said that she had never been on a worse airline – absolutely disgraceful, she said. Perhaps they are doing you a favour by not flying to Oz…….
YAWN!! Well, I hope Monarch don’t get involved in another series of that Holiday Airline pish! These programmes were good when they were on at first – but now they are repetitive, I say repetitive. They could well be showing the same series over and over again and no-one would know any different! I guess that it’s all just marketing.
However, I hope Ryanair avoid these programmes like they do main airports. Although people who have travelled with them (FR) know what they are like, I don’t think that they would drum up a whole load of new business showing it to the public on TV, do you??!!!:D
Jeeeez!! What cupid stunts!
Tim Jeans was the Commercial Director for FR and was head-hunted by MTL to be their top-dog. Didn’t think it would go down too well in the MOL camp when Tim Jeans resigned, but that’s business…
A mini war seems to be bubbling away at BHX now – wonder who will win!!?? Wouldn’t like to see MTL get badly hurt by FR. It just reeks of pettiness, but that’s business again!!
Ren – funny!! 😀 😀 😀
There you go glafferty, another Monarch bod on the forum to ask Monarch questions to. Hope you have a great flight and a great holiday. 🙂
Did Tim Jeans leave Ryanair on good terms with Michael O’Leary, does anyone know?
Seems strange that the EMA/DUB service by baby hasn’t been targeted by Ryanair – not too many major airports/cities in the UK that FR don’t do a DUB service from (sorry Ren – but PIK counts as Glasgow this time!!) 😀

Whats the 747 behind the KLM F70 taking off?
Could it be Martinair – do they still have the 747’s?
Polar Impact
Are you a Ryanair employee? Good on you if you are – let’s not get me wrong here. Thanks to them I have ‘been around’ this year. I am a glad they are around. However, T5’s opinion is allowed to be aired on the forum – that’s what it’s about, surely? I think your tone (if you can call it that when it’s in writing!), was slightly harsh.
Can’t we all be friends on this forum? – PPRuNe seems to be the place for tireless bitching, especially if you are a pilot!
