I think (not 100% certain) that Air 2 Bob are selling these seats on charter flights in the same way as Britannia Direct. Air 2 Bob dabbled in selling seats on a scheduled basis on a load of routes 2 or 3 years ago but it was soon dropped.
Do they still operate the DP flights to Cyprus from BHX/LGW/MAN(?) does anyone know?
LBARules
How are JET2 doing – they seem to be managing just fine – do they get good loads?
I wouldn’t mind trying Air New Zealand, QANTAS, Cathay and Air Canada for long haul.
Shorthaul, I’d like to try Estonian, VLM, Aurigny and anyone with a BAe 146!!
Low-cost airlines

I think you forgot us in your list above of current low-cost carriers.
I see we must still have some work to do to make more people aware of our product. We may be ‘with frills’ but we are still low-cost and competative with the easyJet’s and bmibaby’s on our routes.
Dean.
Eastern Airways must be the most expensive airline per average seat!! I somehow guess that since bmi tapped into the ABZ/NWI market, that Eastern have probably dropped their prices. If not, they’ll be dropping the route soon!!
I don’t particulatly like the aircraft that Eastern operate (although I understand why they do on the routes that they serve), I also don’t like their boring colour scheme.
Not an airline I could rate as special from the outside, but, I have never flown with them (and won’t be either if their fares remain so high!!).
It doesn’t make any difference who announces a route first (does it?) – the public go by price and quality – and not necessarily in that order in all cases. If you’ve ever flown with Monarch Scheduled, you’ll appreciate that we do things very differently to the typical low-cost carrier.
Most of Monarch Scheduled’s routes now have direct competition and still we have very healthy load factors across the network. We also have the advantage of having a good brand name that’s over 30 years old and good reputation with the travelling public and a huge database of frequent flyers – much more than you’d probably believe. One other thing that separates Monarch Scheduled from other low-costers, is the fact that we have (and can afford to have) travel agents selling our seats too – and considering the routes we serve, that works very well and they are still responsible for filling a good chunk of our seats. Monarch can still compete well with other low-cost carriers whether they announce a new route first, second or fifth.
Just my tuppence worth. 🙂
ABZ
Aberdeen has a few International services. KLM are the only ones on AMS, EZY only fly to LTN from ABZ.
As well as the international routes already mentioned, ABZ also has numerous daily services to Scandinavia (EBJ, BGO, SVG), a service to the Faroe Islands and a Ryanair DUB daily service.
Ren…
What fantastic photos of the CO 764 – it’s a big beastie!
I love all of Scotland for scenery – especially the west coast area – well captured!
I’m treating Wingflaps2 to his first trip to Scotland at the end of next month – but we are driving up on this occasion. Still the best way to see Scotland, in my opinion.
Might do a bit of spotting at DND when we’re there!!!!
1. Best Regional – bmi
2. Best Flag Carrier – Virgin Atlantic
3. Best Charter – Monarch
4. Best Low Cost – Monarch Scheduled (call me biased, but it’s true!!)
Now now LGKR!!!
Wingflaps2 will not talk to me again if that rumour spreads!! :p
Please believe that I meant that Morocco was dirty – please please please please please!! 😀
