Eurofighter have completed a range of air-carriage trials for the MBDA Meteor Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM), which forms part of the process of integrating the missile onto the Typhoon swing-role combat aircraft.

From what I can gather, its updated version of the Tranche 3 for export. The 2020 has been proposed to the UAE, Turkey, Oman, Qatar and possibly even Japan too. however theres a lot of features on the 2020 that the likes of the UK, Germany could and will inegrate also, CFTs, AESA etc.

Air-to-ground operations in a single seater is something not usual for the past generation of combat jet and not so common also today, especially at night or in bad weather conditions. Legacy fighters like F-18 and F-15 normally do this kind of missions with a two men crew and also many air-to-ground missions are flown by Rafale with the twin seat aircraft.
What’s you experience of flying this kind of mission in a single seat Typhoon.
You are correct, the RAF especially has traditionally flown air to ground missions extensively with 2 seat aircraft such as the Tornado GR4. There are benefits of operating as a 2 man crew especially when deployed on offensive operations. The Typhoon however has been designed especially for single-seat operations both air to air and air to ground. The systems through a combination of clever ergonomic design and computers augment the single-seat pilot and enable him to operate on operations as effectively as with a traditional 2 seat aircraft. The Eurofighter takes the single-seat concept to a new level.

Italian Air Force Typhoons of 4 and 36 Stormo, redeployed to Trapani-Birgi Air Force Base, have reached the milestone of 1000 flying hours whilst involved in the NATO operation Unified Protector over Libya.

I am truely disapointed to find out that you discard my posting so easily , Scorpion .
I understand , saying that the Typhoon is a “souped-up” M2000 is not easy to swallow but there is not much difference in between the two . The Typhoon is a Sprinter , better acceleration at all regimes than the M2000 but same max speed , same altitude ceiling but with a bigger radar and a wonderfull IRST . The ECMs are probably on the par with the ICMS MkIII (M2000-9) .
As a dogfighter , I would say that a Typhoon ‘s driver put up against a M2000 driver is going to sweat a lot .
When I think that more than 15 years after the blueprint , they discovered that Apexs were usefull , I have a sarcastic smile on my face . Don ‘t ask me why 😉 They made the Typhoon with a 30 years old Dassault technology (80s) .
You, or anyone else that believes the Typhoon is just a “suped up Mirage” and believe the Typhoon is made up of 30 years old Dassault technology, to be brutally honest, ones words deserves to be discarded. You can’t make such nonsense claims and expect anyone to take it seriously. You’re very much clutching at straws to promote your favourite product, not very good at it either.

I remember a good few years ago, before it entered operational service, there was unofficial talk about the Typhoon not having a fin later on in the future.
I’m very much enjoying reading up on this 2020 variant and to be honest I’d like Eurofighter to publish more about this variant, but get it as it comes I suppose. The last time I read about the 2020 was in Air International, April 2011 edition. It’s a very interesting read although at only, about a page long, they never mentioned anything past the likes of CFTs, TVNs, AESA, Meteor, Storm Shadow, DASS, MIDS & one or two other things. Certainly, an updated auto-pilot systems and LERX wasn’t mentioned. LERX is something of interest but Kovy has pointed out & something I noticed when I seen the artist impression of the 2020, what about the gun?
Personally, the gun is something I’d certainly want to keep, so maybe a LERX could be produced to give enough room for the 27mm ammo to pass through?
Also, interesting that they’ve brough back(?) the idea of fitting the LDP on the A/A station.

That is the case around here and other forums, best thing to do is just ignore ones comments or if you can, prove them wrong by providing reliable, official, or both & probably just as important, common sense. I for one wouldn’t say the Typhoon is something it isn’t etc, but a few members rate their favourite product higher than it really is to a point where you think; Oh please…
EELightningWhen they say “tore up” I wonder what they actually mean by that. They’re explaining it as though the RAF are totally ripping apart Typhoons for their engines, a whole wing etc to be fitted to the RAF Typhoons operating over Libya, of which is very highly unlikely, only a nutter like Sharkey Ward would come out and 100% believe this is true, whom of which is has more screws loose than his beloved Sea Harrier, (pun intended). And for the Daily Mail to quote his biased ramblings about the Typhoon and about the RAF in general – whom of which is well known for having a special kind of hatred for – just shows how credible their knowledge is.
Take it with a pinch of salt. Neverless its good food to feed to the likes of Lewis Page and give certain members of the Rafale club something to rant about.

The guitar is fine…apart from a few, I say a “few”, dents, scratches & a slightly broken pick-up…but still has a better chance a being mended than the Rafale has getting a bigger nose. And I still prefer the Typhoon’s chances in India. 😀
On the names of the topics, like a couple of members have pointed out, it’d be a good idea to add the dates & years of a particular aircrafts thread, especially if one wants to know when a particular upgrade etc had taken place.
