EELightningAgain, it isn’t simply a question of “fuel to get back.” It is a question of whether the aircraft has any endurance in combat once it drops its tanks.
During the Libyan Campaign, French Mirage and Rafale (especially) had to be diverted, or had to make emergency landings in Malta on several occasions due to “technical issues”, what those technical issues were is unknown. It’s a little difficult to believe if the issues were fuel related since it carries a significant amount anyway, but who knows. Negative news is unwelcome.

It would depend on what they want them for. There was talk, then there wasn’t, then there was, now it seems there isn’t…
In any case, I’m not sure why they’d want Typhoon when there’s cheaper alternatives available that are still capable of packing a solid punch, Gripen.

It’s worth noting that, Nat Makepeace stated a while ago via Twitter that Tornado always takes off using Reheat, where as it’s generally dry on Typhoon.

Yes indeed, because I’m incredibly renowned for aggressively stating the Typhoon should be selected in every thread there is when it comes to other countries looking for a new fighter. I’m sure you can provide examples.

It saves testing on Animals, which I love with a passion and it breaks my heart seeing them treated like this, and it stops Cruelty to Animals. I quite like that idea.

…On a separate incident not so long a go. Two coloured guys were hanging about, one was riding a Bicycle on the pathway when an innocent man had a go at him for it, and rightly so, paths are for pedestrians. The Bicycle lad’s friend that was with him approached the Gentleman, took a vicious swing at him, punched him full on in the side of his face, fell over a banged his head off the road. The lad that assaulted him casually walked off without a care in the world. The Gentleman died of his injuries a short time later… The 24(?) year old got sentenced 4 and a half years.

Yes but, there’s common sense and there’s patronising Health and Safety training, labels, signs etc. I’ve got two jobs these days, one is a live/touring/studio Musician/Guitarist which I started early last year and, my goodness, some of the Health and Safety regulations is just ridiculous. We had to go through a 5 hour “Training Session” on noise levels. My other job is a Guitar Technician/Sales in a well known UK music store and a lot is just as pointless. I’m all for Health and Safety, up until a point that is. But there’s a point where it’s just silly. Really silly.

Interesting… The F-22 and Typhoon will have been in service for around the same time, both have similar roles with regards to Air Superiority albeit executed differently, both train together on what seems a very regular basis (Typhoon (Luftwaffe) has the best record against the F-22 than any other fighter, including a certain French one… This means nothing but a bit of a stir up!) and they’re (RAF & USAF) probably the closest when it comes to training, i.e. for sharing sensitive details etc. so by time both aircraft will need to be replaced there’ll probably be a joint venture for a new Air Superiority/Swing Role fighter… And I quite like the sound of that.
When is any UK govt gonna wake up and realise the US military-industrial complex is buttf*kking them at every opportunity?

Way back when, early ’80s, the UK didn’t require a Carrier Capable fast jet and lets be fair here, as much as the MoD are pretty clueless anyways, it’s fair to say that even during the time of discussing capabilities and requirements during the Blue Prints stage it’s a little difficult for them to think about QE2 and the F-35 would be thought up then, simply because they weren’t even heard of then.
