I was in Dubai having a look around an electrical store once with my Girlfriend (she’s from Dubai) when a member of staff kindly approached me. As I answered he immediately caught my Geordie accent, being from Newcastle upon Tyne of course. He said; ‘Cool! A fellow Geordie, where are you from?!’. Puzzled, I answered Newcastle. I asked where abouts in Newcastle are you from? He said: ‘Ehum, I’m not from Newcastle, I’m from Middlesbrough!

So, I just thought I’d keep it cool, say all very good and be on our way… Hadn’t the heart to say; ‘If you’re from Middlesbrough, that doesn’t make you a Geordie. Just because you’re from the Northeast doesn’t make you a Geordie, unless you’re actually from Newcastle.’

Quite off topic, but it boils my p*ss somewhat. How many people don’t get it. Uuurgh!

Speaking in acronyms…

Yes, We say “Lol”, “LMAO” & what have you during texts for a few reasons. For me the main one being, since I’m on ‘pay as you go’ I like to save a bit of credit (13p for an ‘effin text!), so it’s understandable. But please, why do so many people (usually Office Jockeys that seem to have the whole world on their shoulders and usually think rather highly of themselves… and have a distinct odour of Coffee, Lynx and office materials for some reason…) speak in acronyms in actual person?…

No kidding, three office chaps came into our Guitar store today chatting amongst themselves, they seemed to have needed a bit of help so I kindly approached them and offered my assistance, as I always do (but never pushy-American-style of offering, *Aggressively approach, talk at speak, put pressure on to make them buy! Buy! Buy!*. *Sigh*) and had a ncanny chat with them, joked around a little bit, nice and friendly, if you need anything just let us know. Anyway, to my surprise they were actually talking in acronyms, one of them actually said ‘LOL’ like it was an actual word. Another even said the letters, L.M.A.O! What the…. and they even “high fived” while doing so… Plus they were arrogant snarky tw@ts.

How much would you not want to work in an office with people like that.

The problem with aviation mags is you can find far more photos, and a HELL of a lot more up-to-date, ACCURATE coverage online if you know where to look.
The printed format is still pleasant physically, but that IMO is pretty much the only thing they have going for themselves.

Indeed. The same goes for most magazines, I used to rely quite a bit on magazines for the kind of work I do, but now I just pop online to find information. Or just get directly in touch with say like, Fender, Gibson or whom ever if I need to find out something.

I buy the odd magazine for general pleasant reading that I think might come in handy for future reference, especially when it comes to Typhoon. The likes of Jon Lake, Jamie Hunter & what have you tend to report things that takes the official Eurofighter website weeks, months to report, maybe never at all. So they still have their good points. But I suppose aeroplane makers would prefer someone else to report what they’ve done, circle of friends & all.

Don’t flaunt your ignorance. You should learn a little about the recent history of your own country. Go to Busan, visit the Turkish section of the UN memorial cemetery, & see which side those Turks were fighting on. They (all volunteers: the conscripts among them had completed their service & volunteered to stay on for this duty) died keeping you from suffering the fate of North Koreans, & now you denigrate their sacrifice.

I can certainly make claim that MIG-35 is better than Eurocanards. it was the only aircraft demonstrated weopons firing with AESA radar in MMRCA. which EF simply couldnot. seeing the prolong negotiation of MMRCA it seems the whole process was bogus.

Still, your Mig-35 never turned up for Aero India nor was it shortlisted as the Typhoon and Rafale were.

And, the “Only” aircraft to demonstrate firing weapons with an AESA radar? So you’re not aware of Lockheed Martin borrowing the UAEAF’s Block 60 F-16s with AESA to perform trials in India, as did the Boeing F/A-18E/F?

with infusion of huge money in Russina aviation industry and Ruaf procurement before 2020. It is more than likely that MIG-35 will always be at the top interms of new weopons/upgrades to avionics, engines etc.
There is simply not that much money in EU to improve EF/Rafale/Gripen. and what little left will go towards procurement of JSF.

Yeah, Russian aircraft will receive funding for upgrades, but it doesn’t mean they’ll be any better. And you’re obviously not aware of upgrades currently underway for Rafale, Gripen and Typhoon. The Rafale has a very wide range of weapons already integrated, certainly more versatile than Typhoon and Gripen at this stage, and at the very least on par (or better in my view) with the Mig-35.

Are you aware of what upgrades and enhancements Typhoon are receiving as I type this? Most certainly not…

TVC is not useless. It is being in used aircraft like Su-30MKI/F-22 which has far worse TWR than newer MIG-35. MIG-35 TVC is newer one.

Never said it was useless. It has it’s advantages but what advantages one gains their is a disadvantage to pay for in other areas, engine/airframe fatigue, loss of energy in certain situations in WVR.

I dont think Eurocans will be superior to MIG-35 ordered by Ruaf. more updated engine with rapid modernization will enable it to be always better.

Care to go into more detail about this? You cannot claim the Mig-35 is “better” without stating something.

Unofficial polish sources give results 8:0 for the Typhoons in those engagements.

We’re most certainly not going to hear anything official, especially from the RAF side.
