UAE National Security Adviser Sheikh Hazza’ Bin Zayed Al Nahyan is said to be preparing to begin work on a deal for the Eurofighter Typhoon with the F-16 procurement programme having reached its final phase by getting US approval for 26 more F-16 Block 60 Desert Falcon.
Why not define a capable aircraft by decade (70s, 80s, 90s etc) rather than Generation?
If, for example, Tornado was defined as a “3rd Gen” aircraft of the 80s and 90s with the capabilities it had then, what “Generation” would it be defined as today with the capability to operate with Storm Shadow, Brimstone, Paveway IV, ASRAAM, RAPTOR and it’s well up to date avionics and defensive systems? It makes no sense. Generation is no more than marketing gibberish.
Really don’t like the look of the “new” forum. What was wrong with the old one? This one, as far as I can see, there’s no ‘Reply to Thread’ icon, you have to go to the last post and click ‘Reply with Quote’ even though you don’t want to quote that person’s post – very annoying. But not as annoying as after you click ‘submit post’, you visit your new post on the thread (which is fine) but then, you have click on ‘Forum’ at the top left of the page to then to go all the way through the particular forum you’re posting on…
…and why does everything look so crammed and small even on a 17″ screen?
It’s sh*t!
Ta!
Edit: Just seen the ‘Reply’ thingy.
P.S. It’s still sh*t!

$10 billion seems a rather small amount for three countries each with a very large military shopping list of their own. I don’t think BAE Systems will be worried about a 60+ Typhoon order even if the UAE do order 26 additional F-16s. Oman ordered Typhoons shortly after they ordered F-16s.
rafael can carry mroe bomb and prove itself last year in the wars. typhoon showed it was really weak in that area.
Rafale, how it’s said. Is more versatile in A/G than Typhoon and is compared to your J-10B for that matter.
Are you aware of what’s being integrated onto Typhoon regarding A/G? I doubt so, but do try.
j10b already has aesa in bigger nose,
Bigger than who’s? The AESA radar for the J-10B is said to have around 1,100+ TR Modules, about the same number as Rafale’s RBE2-AA and much less than Typhoon’s Captor-E at 1,400+ (maybe more).
sd10
AMRAAM, Mica, Meteor… what advantages?
dsi
…Is nothing special, nor new. A similar design goes way back to the 50s.
irst
Other aircraft have IRST or something similar.
eots
As they do this…
ecm
… and ECM.
and pl12d that can match meteor.
Got a source for that? And even if it did out-range Meteor, you still need a fighter with greater kinetic performance, larger and more powerful radar, a continuously enhanced and upgraded ECM system as well as a ECM system. So, if your J-10B is up against something like Typhoon you’re going to be in a world of hurt.
also china will retire many seed airplane so j10b can has seed too.
Good for them.
Just a single bottle from a few we had had a couple of weeks ago. Thought it might come in handy on a special occasion, like one’s last Rolo.
I’ve got a Toblerone to open up for Kim Jong Un. Although I reckon it’d be out of date by time he kicks the bucket Thatcher kicked.

News just in:
Thatcher to be awarded the No Bell Peace prize!
:diablo:
Ah well, it made me giggle. I have a very nice cold bottle of Kopparberg for a certain special occasion!

During Q1, most of the drivers don’t push that hard to set a time to get into the top 17 for Q2. The cars run very light during Q2 to set their quickest time for the top 10 to get into Q3, where they qualify with fuel they’ll carry for the whole race.
When the qualifying sessions are over each car must give a 1lt sample of fuel for testing in case there is any funny business going on, anything less than that is an automatic penalty regardless of where you start on the grid. The tricky thing is, if you’re running in Q2 with minimum fuel onboard, very close to leaving 1lt in the tank, and you finish the session without running out of fuel or crashing etc and make it into Q3, you’re fine. Run with less than 1lt of fuel onboard and you have issues, you’re going to get a penalty, simple as.
Webber just happened to have a bit of bad luck and balls up his own race, as well as the teams’ and Vergne’s and Red Bull’s sister team Torro Rosso’s.
And speaking of which; Webber has been given a three place grid penalty for the next race for making an half ar$ed move on Vergne and causing a collision.
Is that clear enough for you, Mr. Needham? I do hope so, Mr. Needham!

Well here we go again, somehow Mark Webbers car ran out of fuel in qualifying 2 and is now at the back of the grid(probably to stop him racing with the blue eyed kraut(yes I have used that word again) Funny Vettels car did not do the same. I call “shenaigans”!!!!
Good luck Seb I hope someone nerfs you off on a corner lets see your false smile then.(the rest is unprintable but you probably can imagine it!)
How to make oneself look like a complete tool. Congratulations, Mr. Needham. You win 1st prize!
Anywho,
Great race, a well deserved win for Alonso and Ferrari – pity Massa didn’t have much of a strong race, I was expecting somewhat more. Solid drive from Kimi despite his moment, was expecting Hamilton to be closer to the front in the Mercedes and another pity Rosberg had his second DNF in three races. And, a great drive from Vettel to get where he did, great overtaking, the fight near the end and almost snatching 3rd from Hamilton was epic, but done very well to get where he did even though his strategy was wrong.
Webber?… Well, self explanatory.
