Well, apparantly eight 1v1(?) BFM engagements between the Typhoons & F-22s, two JG74 Typhoons share four simulated kills against the F-22s (one has three kills the other has a single kill). It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine those figures from the claim, “Not a whole lot coming back.”

EELightningAlthough I’m not really into the Olympic Games, I thought I’d give it the benefit of the doubt and at least watch the opening ceremony.
The Isambard Kingdom Brunel theme of British industrial might was without doubt the highlight of ceremony by a significant gap, very, very impressive. However, I found the rest to be lacklusture and at times cringeworthy as well as rather, I must be frank, silly! Some of it was on par to Eurovision and I got the impression thats where Danny Boyle got some inspiration from. He missed out so much that puts the ‘Great’ into Great Britian in my humble opinion. Overall, forgettable! Although there were some very nice touching parts.
The Beijing opening ceremony was always going to be a tough act to follow let alone better, and London 2012 didn’t come anywhere close in my view.
Nah! What was needed was; the stadium designed by and built under the supervision of Isambard Kingdom Brunel with Marshall cabs built into the infrastructure (which is also a zillion ton nuclear/coal powered amphibious aircraft carrier which also flys, and has hangers for a large fleet of Harriers). It’ll also have a Class 45 Destroyer and an Astute Class Submarine (oh what the hell, the whole fleet) stationed in the middle of the stadium launching strikes on France – just for the annoucements for the Queen and Royal Navy being made in the awful language of Frog before English! (What was that all about?)
There will also be stages on all sides of the stadium for the likes of Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones and other great British bands. The Red Arrows will be constantly displaying in the air, there’ll be a beach invasion by the Royal Marines, the Paras will be parachuting in, the Gurkhas sneaking in with Kukris drawn, the SAS abseiling all over the place and the Royal Navy Black Cats performing their display above with Vulcans, Lancasters, Shackeltons, Mosquitos, Lightnings, Hawkers, Spitfires, Hurricanes, Tornados, Typhoons and of course Concorde flying overhead above them! All flown by genetically produced clones of Paul Bonhomme and Steve Jones!
Please note: After the aerial displays the stadium’s roof will close. The new roof is in the shape of The Falkland Islands!
Also, there will be Aston Martins and Jaguars powersliding all around the stadium, jumping over the beach invasions as well as providing a bullet proof shield for our lads & lasses – this will be produced, directed and written by Top Gear, Boris Johnson and Hannibal ‘The Cannibal’ Lecter with special guests Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Jason Statham, Lennox Lewis with commentary provided by Murray Walker and Martin Brundle whom of which will provide lectures on Great British History and inventions.

EELightningThats an RBS-15 anti-ship missile. The same image is featured in the most recent issue of Eurofighter World. Its the first real life image I’ve seen of this missile on a Typhoon, others have been scaled models or artist’s impressions.
‘Malaysia gets option from Eurofighter’
Malaysia can choose which part of the Eurofighter’s Typhoon to be developed locally should the Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MRCA) win the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) MiG-29N replacement contract.
BAE Systems managing director, Southeast Asia John Brosnan said the Eurofighter consortium partners have agreed that as much as 90 per cent of the aircraft is available for participation by Malaysian companies.
“Most of the aircraft probably won’t be made in Malaysia but it’s for Malaysia to decide which bits of it they want to do here. Unlike other aircraft, we’re not keeping things back and it’s all available to Malaysia if it wants to have it,” Brosnan told Bernama.
“One thing about defence deals, you have lots of competitors saying what they might and might not do,” he added.
The UK-based company is the lead contractor on behalf of Eurofighter nations comprising the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Spain.
It was reported that BAE Systems had submitted a proposal to the Malaysian government to bid for the RMAF’s MiG-29N replacement contract, comprising a 100-page list of technologies that the company was willing to transfer as well as names of local and overseas companies that were willing to participate in the
process.

EELightningLONDON: Eurofighter consortium, lead by BAE Systems, is ready to invest RM6.3bil in offset programmes designed specifically for Malaysia within the next five years.
BAE Systems’ senior industrial partnerships and offset manager, Mike Perret, said the group had collectively invested RM3.5bil over the last five years in Malaysia.

EELightningEurofighter chief executive officer Enzo Casolini reported that the four partner nations had issued a request for quotations (RFQ) on the e-scan version of the Captor radar earlier this month. The consortium would respond by October and a contract would be signed by mid-2013. Test flights could follow by the end of that year, leading to service entry in 2015, he said. The industry partners and the Euroradar consortium have been pre-funding the development.
The Captor-E will feature mechanical repositioning of the antenna for enhanced performance, as previously shown in model form. But according to Berndt Wuensche, chairman of the Eurofighter supervisory board, the double swashplate mounting has been dropped in favor of a single swashplate solution. However, he hinted that the consortium would price both options when it responds to the RFQ.
Casolini said a contract to integrate the MBDA Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile would be in place by the end of the year. The consortium was proposing a mid-2015 target for operational clearance, he added. The latest edition of Eurofighter’s in-house magazine gives mid-2016 as the target date.
EELightningFARNBOROUGH, England, July 10 (Reuters) – Britain’s BAE Systems believes the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has “real and genuine” interest in buying 60 of its Eurofighter Typhoon jets instead of the French Dassault Rafale.
“I think the interest is real and genuine as does the British government and we are working hard to put a package together for 60 planes for the UAE,” BAE Systems’ business development director Alan Garwood told Reuters at the Farnborough Airshow on Tuesday.
“We could tell by the questions they (the UAE government) were asking us that they were serious.”
The UAE was expected to finalise a $10 billion agreement with Dassault last year but the talks faltered after the UAE said the terms were uncompetitive and unworkable.
Garwood said the British government’s improved relationship with Abu Dhabi, the failure of talks with Dassault and recent new business wins for BAE in the Gulf state make it confident it can clinch the deal.

“A huge step.” That was the verdict from the Eurofighter industrial consortium at the Farnborough air show on 10 July, the day after the confirmation of a four-nation agreement to proceed with a major package of enhancements.
Eurofighter last month issued a request for proposals on behalf of partner nations Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK to integrate an active electronically scanned array radar into the Typhoon, and will respond around October, says chief executive Enzo Casolini.
“The target is to have a contract by the middle of next year, for entry into service in 2015,” says Casolini. “The nations are harmonising their requirements – we’re more or less there.” The Euroradar consortium will for now propose a system with a “simple swashplate” design for the array, which is expected to begin flight tests during 2013. Its response will also outline a proposed development path for the technology for the next decade, Eurofighter says.
Another key element of the programme will be introducing additional weapons, including MBDA’s Meteor air-to-air missile. A Eurofighter test aircraft will fire its first of the beyond visual-range weapons late this year, according to BAE Systems chief test pilot Mark Bowman.

EELightningIt was also supposed to be hot in the UAE too but that apparantly isn’t the case now.
The RAF have for quite a while now envisaged their Typhoons to be Swing-Role post 2015, and in a lot of ways pre 2015 aswell. Storm Shadow, Brimstone, SDB or this new Spear weapon it seems to be now.

I can only find this news in Tactical Report, it just stated that Kuwaiti officials held talks with BAE Systems for the Typhoon. Credit is needed to read the rest of the report in greater detail, unfortunately I’m not signed up to that site so thats as much as I can say. The majority of their fixed wing aircraft are of US origin with a handful of British. I would believe that the Typhoon has a much higher chance in the likes of the UAE and Oman.
Italian Typhoons have been taking part in Anatolian Eagle ’12. By looks of one of these pictures, it looks as though at least one Typhoon has HEA?

EELightningHate to be impolite, but you are just wrong. The political descision to invade was made under the strong impression that the RN was downsizing significantly (Invincible going to Australia, Endurance being withdrawn, Fearless, Intrepid decom, etc) A counterfactual RN with big CVs would have detered the Argies from going in as it would have demonstrated that the RN had the capability beyond all doubt to retake them.
Not at all. Of course, the downsizing of the Royal Navy played a part. Neverless, as I say and as senior officials stated many times through various sources, Argentina’s leaders did not believe Britian would respond with military action regardless of what they had at their disposal.
