I know WWII Fighters is old, but when I look at the screen shots of today’s games and compare it to WWII Fighters I can’t help but be impressed by the older game. The damage modelling especially is superb in WWII Fighters. I still play the game sometimes, and I just wanted to get some idea of a comparison.
Have you guys given up already?

There’s another sketch in the newest edition of Jane’s fighting ships. It looks like your first picture.
That would be because the final design will resemble it. I have a full colour 3D CGI image of the current design in one of my new books from Japan. Compared to the first pic Ja posted there is a change to the Island structure, and the deck shape, but the overall design and function remains the same.

In the foreground you can see the remains of what looks like an R-73 AAM, and under the wing, the back end of an R-27 AAM possibly?
