More evidence of advanced state of UK aircraft industry in years past.
Unitl the MoD got their grubby little hands on it, and slashed funding in the 60’s, which pretty much ended any hope of the UK keeping pace with (or ahead of) American development. There is a really good book on Secret British Fighter programs of the 50’s.
So this is just bunk then…
Well done Jimw, All correct, Last ones a trick pic you were very close on but, So name it, Last pic no, and try the cockpit again, SO close :p
I must say STORMBIRD262, this has been one of your easier selections. But the last one? I would say it is a Hawker something. I can’t think of any other ventral radiator types that didn’t have other easily recognisable features head on.
Spanish built Bf-109G?
Do you mean the ex-Moldovan AF FULCRUMs they bought a few years back?
Don’t Police speed guns use LADAR technology? The counter measure to them can be found here http://www.radardetectorshop.co.uk/products/target_lrc_100_laser_jammers.htm
An entirely domestic project?
Was the Agni II recently tested to validate some components of the Agni III? There have been rumours that the Agni III is ready for testing and waiting for a govt nod. The Agni III is going to be the big one for India in the Asian context as it will be able to cover most parts of China and its later ranges will be even greater.
Last I read, Agni III will have a reach of around 4,000km.
Can anyone tell me about the specifics of the J/AWG-12?
Crobato usually has his info about various Asian airplanes intact, so crob if you’re reading this please gimme some info on that particular radar.
PhantomII,
The radar is similar to AN/AWG-12 fitted to the British Royal Air Force Phantom FGR.2. More info on the F-1 family here.
makes one wonder how many OTHER wrecks still lie undiscovered in the Pacific. Hmmm…….. Would love to stumble on the wreck of a Ki-61 in Papua New Guinea. 😀
It seems that Europe learned of the Eurofighter fiasko and is able to sell military aircraft to an outside market.
Helos yes, but they are still struggling to sell the Typhoon and Rafale. They must be loving us down here, we have TIGER and now the NH-90 as well. I know the Australian Aerospace firm in Brisbane is probably popping champagne bottles right now! 🙂
Latest updates in Asia-Pacific region; Australia to purchase stealth cruise missile and MRH-90 for Australian Army. Indonesia is not happy about the stealth cuise missile, so how will they respond?
Would Indonesia respond with similar purchasing, or will they just complaining about the threat pose by Australia?
They will bitch, they will moan, but there is little they could do. The Russians don’t have a JASSM type weapon they could sell to fit on the Indonesian Su-30s.
Looks like a fairing covering for a filter, or intake, of some kind. There appears to be the remnants of a camouflage paint job too.
Harpoon Block II, which we are getting, does have a land attack capability.
Thanks everyone for the pics, but does anyone have images of Eritrean or Kenyan Navies?
For Eritrea, find some pics of the old Ethiopian navy and that is what they will have, or at least what was left.
