Thought it was hilarious in general but the rock throwing must have been quite a shock and it looked as if there was a genuine threat.

Very good comment make by clarkson when driving though a still ruined New Orleans

Eurostar – thanks for the link to my pics (wondering why the hits had gone up) I have a lot more to add when I get the chance)

It is definately worth making a rough plan and sticking to it – my ‘wanderings’ over the week were as follows

Monday – brief look round trade show on route to aeroshell square, go to warbird area via homebuilts. Book flight on Trimotor, walk round warbird area, have flight, watch afternoon airshow.

Tuesday – walk through trade show (different route today) – aeroshell square, turn right towards vintage area, walk up one side to the end (past seaplane shuttle stop – a long way) head back doing the microlight area + remaining vintage rows further from runways

Wednesday – wx was a bit cloudy so headed to museum + booked Bell47 flight
followed by RV area + north parking (parallel to runway)

Thursday – tour of Basler facilty and was dropped off by terminal – walked back (airside) from there to a point near Hilton Hotel when I caught a shuttebus back to warbird area. The shuttlebus are the school buses and run to all the aircraft parking area on that side of the runway – very handy.

Friday – seaplane base for a while, back to main area to see Blue Angels flypasts. Met up with friends and watched afternoon show.

Saturday – aircraft saturation point reached by now – quick look at warbird to find quite a few had departed. Back vis tradeshow & shops. Found good spot on crowdline and watched show.

As the bus meeting point was away from the show area it was a good idea to vary the route taken to/from the show as there were often aircraft ‘lurking’ in some of the tents. Some of the EAA museum aircraft are also to be found in some of the temp buildings.

Janie – I did not find it that hard not to get people in the pictures – the Warbird area can be tricky, patience is need or you can always go and photograph something else and come back later in the day.

    Petition signed and passed on.

As motorists are already taxed until the pips squeek will this lead to a reduction in car tax / fuel duty / insurance etc – I doubt it.

People have been saying for years that they would give up car travel if there was a viable alternative and at the moment that is looking very unlikely.
Far better to put a mileage charge onto fuel as that way those who do the most miles shouls pay the most. It may also have an additional benefit of encouraging those with larger cars (ie poor mpg) to downsize.

No doubt somebody will invent something to block whatever signal this tracking device emits and I predict this will be a bestseller.

I am sure I have seen a picture of a DC3 on floats somewhere.

Have also seen an Antonov 2 on floats (Datangshan Museum thread from 2005)

    Skymonster,

what about the Privatair A319’s – they are of the A320 family and operate non stop scheduled trans pond sectors.

    Dave,

have passed through Rome (FCO) and I have to say it was not nice. There are a lot of police around and I would advise caution when using even binos and keep the camera out of sight. Not sure of the situation on the perimeter but again anybodu using a camera will attract the wrong sort of attention.

I did a couple of internal flights on MU in 2005 – found them to be fine. Hot meal was basic but it was more than you would get on most european carriers. Crew were attentive and friendly (pleanty of them as well – 6 on 737 or A320 size) . Not a word from flight deck but that is the norm in China. Legroom was not great though

Something that irritates me is continuity or rather a lack of it sometimes. i.e show a character boarding say a 747, show a 737 in a sunset type scene than a dc10 landing. Black rain was an example of this.

Used Ian allen for EAA trip this year – couple of minor niggles but nothing to put me off using them again.
