I am sure there is a Hampden in a place near Abbostford (Langley I think) little airport with a museum
RA-77114 & 115 were both at Zhukovsky during the MAKS show – no signs of activity around either.
My pics of both are on http://www.jetphotos.net
on the Tu154 picture only the no1 & no3 engine have reversers deployed as (i think) the no2 does not have one.
On the DC8 it was allowed to put the inboards (only) into reverse in flight to increase the rate of plummett 🙂
Can be tricky for us English as well
How many time has you asked for directions to a place – only to have a local pronouce it in a totally different way.
local to me are a couple of places which can be pronounced in different ways
Alresford – pronounced Allsford not AL-Red-Ford
Micheldever – MitchelDever not Michealdeever
Bosham in Sussex – I call it Bosh-am – locals call it Bozzam – go figure!

Born in England, live / work in England – would not want to call anywhere else my home.
However, after the referendum on the euro yesterday – I would suggest Sweden as an alternative 😉 – at least they got a vote on the euro – will we or will we be forced into it?
English 1st, British 2nd, European – never

RobBelc,
yes am a regular at Popham – with a green / white tent 🙂
Yesterdays was a good event – lovely weather and even lovlier aircraft
BAA should take a look at Germany and the facilities they provide for enthusiasts – Frankfurt and Dusseldorf are both busy airports and offer great photographic opportunites at low cost.
Yes it may cost a bit to get in (Dusseldorf is 2 euro / day) but the views are well worth it. They also have a security presence at all times on the deck.
When will BAA take onboard that people are willing to pay for somewhere to photograph from and all they are doing by closing spectator areas is ‘forcing’ enthusiasts to find other areas to photograph from – possibly causing more problems for Police etc than if they were in one good place.
With T5 being built there is an opportunity to put a viewing area on the roof but it will be a cold day in hell before they do.
What about BMI – only 2 widebody aircraft (SAA has the other) used on Washington / Chicago.
Qatar Airways / Kuwait Airways / Air Zimbabwe / Ethiopian Airways / Air Madagascar / Cameroon Airline – may be ‘national’ carriers but still operate wide bodies on a few routes.
Silence of the lambs was a chilling film and Anthony Hopkins portrayal of Hannabal Lector was brilliant and thoroughly deserved the Oscar.
Event Horizon was ‘creepy’ but for the terror value Alien is miles ahead. You know that somebody is going to get ‘nibbled’ if
a) they get separated from others b) open a room/cupboard etc c) hear a odd noise and go to investigate, unarmed and in the dark

What about ‘The Dambuster’s – very good film and based on reality unlike some previously mentioned or 633 squadron
Apollo 13 is another good one and the fact that, like the dambusters, it is based on reality gives it an edge. You know that they all make it back safely yet it still has the ‘edge of seat’ tension that makes it a great film.
