It was just Clarkson being Clarkson. Not the first time people have been offended by him and hopefully not the last. Those that watch the show know that there is always something that some humourless / PC / tree hugger etc will find to moan at. If people only watch the show on that basis then we live in sad times indeed. TG is one of the very few programmes that makes the license fee bareable – it is entertainment, pure & simple and a ‘must watch’ for a lot of people.

Did the people who complained actually see the programme or are they just jumping on the same “Ross / Bland” bandwagon that left earlier.

    Possel,

I do not recall seeing one but there was a fenced off part of the storage area which had a lot of frames in and it could have been one of those. There were also a couple of other hangars that we could not get into as it as a public holiday and no keyholder available for those buildings. (what date in 1966? – just curious as I ‘arrived’ in 66)

Mpacha – do you recall whereabout it was in the museum?

Yes the Bucc does look untidy but they have a much better one inside one of the hangars – it was just too big to get a decent photograph of and the hangar was on the dark side.

Having recently done LGW-MCO return on VS 747-400 I can say that the interiors on both the aircraft I flew on are ‘tired’ – one of our group had a broken seat that would not stay upright and the entertainment system was very dated and kept crashing. (G-VXLG & G-VTOP were the 2) Outbound food was fine but the return was poor – which is typical of flights from the USA regardless of airline.

You can be all the things stated in the posts above without having to believe in some sort of god whose existance has yet to be proven.

The Dornier (D-ICKS not D-IOKS as blue tape had been applied to fill the gap in the ‘C’) was at the NBAA last week as was the Viking Twotter (featuring a new all glass cockpit that brings it right up to date) I will try and get some pics uploaded in the next few days.

I did SOU – DUS for a day a couple of years ago with 2 friends. It was a significant birthday for one of them and I organised the trip and his wife conspired to get him up and ready. He was a tad shocked when I picked him up and we managed to keep the destination from him until the flight was called.

I also did LGW – Alicante in a day on the flight deck of a Laker Bac1-11 in Nov 1979 – now that was fun!

Many thanks for the kind words about our event – I will pass them on to the rest of the team. As a regular at Popham with our SAS sales stand it was good to get a nice day for once. (so i am told – I was in South Africa that day)
