Bloodnok has the answer, big up to the historic guys 😀
Thanks guys, that clearly explains where they were all going. 😀
Okay someone, now tell us the story about these ? It sounds fascinating why someone would want 22 of them ? And counting………….
Unicorn, yes I noticed the same, there was something about her that didn’t look quite right. There were a few show pony’s there as well. Ships that looked like they had never been to sea for real in their lives and were really just empty shells with little real equipment on board and skeleton crews. At least the RN ships looked like they could just fire up the engines and go and do a job of work at a few hours notice.
Or he only worked on Old Honda’s :diablo: 😀
Just ordered the book from my local Library, cant wait 😎
Is it not the case that regardless of stealth the F-22/35 would probably stay BVR against and aircraft like this ? Once they have been seen, against a Mig-29OVT they would have lost most of their advantages and although they may have better sensor systems and missiles the playing field becomes a great deal more level when within visual range due to the 29’s agility ?
Type 23 Stealthy ? I had no idea judging by their appearance, so good point. I guess stealthy enough for their purpose patrolling the Malacca straights where they can no doubt hide among the many Islands off of Singapore and the hundreds of large ships that transit that area every day, so maybe stealth is not a pre-requisit in that area. Hopefully we will hear some more about the equipment fit on these soon ?
The Francophone North African nations must be high up on the French potential customer list, so its hardly a surprise. Morocco though with no Oil and hence no current Energy price Dividend must have been one of the less likely customers
Forget the Cheesy story line, the best scene of the filum is the great B36 take off and that wonderful noise. 😀 The aerial scenes over the snowy north are supurb as well 😎 What a great plane they must have been to observe.
Yes, you may be right, I have been a couple of times to Hanningfield metals and its certainly the final resting place of many RAF machines
Okay a question. Would a modified eg shortened type 23 still be considered ‘modern’ I know that the RN only took delivery of the last of theirs a few years ago, but with the exception of stealth, has much else moved on since then ? I guess what I am getting at, have the Malaysians purchased wisely ?
Yes a video of it at RIAT or this weeks displays at Farnborough would be great 😀
My question is not completely unrelated to this, but I posted it in the miltary section and no-one knows.
This week I have seen three separate Jaguars without wings or engines being moved by private hauliers around the M25 London Orbital. They seem to be heading for the east or one of the ports in the east. They looks in okay condition but not prestine and all were still on their landing gear.
Anyone know where they were going ?
The colour scheme certainly looked current, but being a bit of a muppet I didn’t note the squadrons. 😡
Turbinia, Thanks for the context, I didn’t know there were so many techniques
