thee aircraft engineers are at a trade fair, one from BAE, one from Embrear and another from Aerospatial, they were in the “gents” and having releaved themselves as the Embrear guy was thoughly scrubbing between his fingers he said ‘at embrear we are meticulous about everything we do’, the guy from Aerospatial was inspecting his fingernails after washing, he said ‘at Aerospatial quality control is everything’. the BAE guy pulled up his zip and said as walked out ‘at BAE we know enough not to pee on our bloody fingers!!!’.

i don’t go online flying and tend to stay with military and historic aircraft myself. my last session was flying a jet provost T5, i took off from stansted, tracked west (ish) till over milford haven, went across the bay to st Davids, followed the coast up to llanbedr, turned right and flew through the valleys to roughly just south of snowdonia. then clinbed to 15,000 and flew to RAF Valley, landed there and changed the aircraft for a hunter F6 then made a direct line for Leeds Bradford airport, did some aeros over there till i got a little carried away and tried to pull out of a half roll and half loop and flew through the green stuff 🙁 that ended that session quite abruptly.

f,y,i, i’m still stooging around on FS2000, (and CFS1 with pacific add on) and the only airliners i have apart from those supplied are slightly outmoded, the most modern being the trident !!! my faves being the viscount and the DC3.

It would be useful to know what type of ordnance to expect and where. Is it likely to explode and what would cause the ordnance to go ‘bang’ after such a long time in the ground?

    tc

i can send the EX down with a large hammer to help test the likelyhood of any explosions if you like, 😮 :diablo: on a more serious note though. i watched a prog recently where the german bomb disposal crew were using old RAF and USAF post bombing recon pics to help find uxb,s. are there any old luftwaffe pics available?.
    hope this helps,

That’s not a low flyby. That’s the normal F100 rate of climb!

(Cheek I know coming from a Luton Minor owner!)

    normal for a 10 series DC9 too methinks 😉

Did any Lancasters fly (at that time) with a nacelled engine attached to the bomb bay? That might fit the bill as far as a description of RATO goes. Did any Lanc ever get fitted for RATO? – Nermal

there was at least one lanc with a bomb bay mounted jet engine in a necelle, it was flown by the Swedes, i’ll see if i can find reference to it.
that B2 in the pic, wasn’t it the one that had either a Python or Dart turboprop mounted in the nose at a later date?.

Patty, that is one gesture that i am very sure Steve would have loved.

although my contact with Steve was, apart from posting here, only by pm and a very brief phone call i feel that he is one guy who i will always consider a friend.

when we were arranging to meet at a fly in (one that unfortunatly i could not attend (due to a last minute call in to work) i told him i would be going with three friends, one from Rotherham and two from Sheffield, he said he was going with JN4 and he would be surrounded by bloody yorkies!!!, i’ve never been described as a yorkie before but it’s a badge i’ll wear with pride.
    thanks Steve, and sleep well.

as promised, a glass has just been raised here for a fellow enthusiast, and there will be another before the night is out.

here’s to you Steve, may you be revelling in the company of the hero’s you cared so much for in that great mess room in the sky.

Steve Young, a great father, pilot, funny guy and friend to those lucky enough to know him.
