Didnt think someone would have left a Luciole lying about!!!
Is the “Strutter” version one of the flying Luciole conversions or is it a static rep that was made same as the Sywell “Funbus”?
Its the salmsons im intigued about, carnt recall ever seeing them. The pic above was talken at Lt Grandsden in 1985.
Went in to Sbo once in a Wilga, was instantly surrounded by Parrot shooter’s who wanted to go jump out of it because they hadnt seen one before!!!! Not been over there for a while but there use to be a nice selection of GA types in the Big Black hangar with a few Tiger’s, Stampe’s Auster’s thrown in.
Found this pic of one of the reps on Airliners.net
Certainly used in the 80’s and 90’s, i used to fly in there at least once a year in my Auster. The Auster club had a flyin there Annualy, loverly little strip by the river. Not been in there for a few years now but sad to hear of another strip closing and being lost!! 🙁
I wonder if this is the same aircraft which I saw displayed vertically mounted on the front of the cinema in Leicester Square London.
The film showing was Shout at the Devil with Lee Marvin.
You would ned a b****Y strong wall!!!!!! this ones built out of some fairly heavy weight metal tube. Think you will find the one frome “Shout at the devil” is a different A/C
No surprise such a hair brained idea has been suspended, just that though unfortunately, it wasn’t scrapped, CAA used the excuse that is was shelved for now, because the guy devising the whole thing, could no longer work.
MJR
I understand that he Died!!!!!!!!
Be fantastic to see BTC up and about again, i know she to was resident at Sywell for many years with G-ABUS but as far as i know Dad only flew BUS.
It was, enough said 🙁
Im sure if the Sywell museum hangar was built they would love to give it a god home, Brooklands use to refurb mossie,s on the field.
I’m not an expert, but I do think all aircraft not flying with the military or other state agencies (State aircraft) need to be civilian registered. So, a Spitfire/Mustang/Harvard (insert type to your liking) need to be on the civilian register. The exemption to fly in military marks, is just that, an exemption. The aircraft still needs to be civilan registered to fly, even though the markings are not shown. So it is not a case of stacks of cash to spare. For the CAA to give it it’s certificate of airworthiness, it need to be G-something (or N-something, or TF-something) even though the markings are not visible
You did’nt read the post. The statement was why a Special civil registration? ie somthing like G-SPIT instead of G-ABCD for instance. The answer is if you can afford it and want to then what the hell!!!
Stripper, Formation leader looks fwd and where the formation is going and therefore is looking out for, and responsible for, all A/C in the formation. Other members of formation are looking at the leader, and only at the leader!!!! Hence many formations flown into the ground and other objects when leader gets it wrong, or is not looking where he is going!!!!!!!!
I trust you have had formal formation training??
Maybe he works for ARCO and dosnt realy want you to see them, well not untill he wants to sell them anyway!
You’ve got to remember, those Spitfire’s are highly classified pieces of upto date machinery!! :diablo:
