Thank you all for your kind words, both on here and via email.
Uncle David passed away late on Friday evening, thankfully through most of his illness he had been in no pain but at the end he was on morphine. He had non hoskins lymphoma and it was hoped he would beat is, at least long enough to see the aeroplane he designed, BE2 replica G-AWYI “Biggles Biplane” fly once more. It was so very close but sadly not to be.
As you can imagine this is a terribly sad time for us all but your kind words are very welcome. I take some comfort in the thought that hopefully he is now with Dad, the beloved brother that he missed so much. Im sure they are allready plotting the next adventure.
Thank you all, i must go now as the keyboard is getting a little wet 🙁
Rest in Peace Unc, and say hi to Dad.
Stunning!
Good film, Thanks for posting it. Sad to see these two making their last flight though but it’s good to know they will get preserved. (Assuming that’s whats happening to them). I’ll have to get down to Brunty to have a look at them. besides I got promised a guided tour of the Guppy that I’m keen to take up.
Regards.
Aer you sure its there last flight??? At Brunters you can never be too sure!!:D
Any idea as to where it was when withdrawn from use. Not heard of this one before? Interesting:)
Is the Fokker e iii eindecker the same one that flew with the great warbirds team?
This is as said a recently finished 3/4 scale ultralight version of a Fokker EIII. Construction is of riveted together Ally tube ans its powered by a two stroke, looks very effective.
I dont remember the GWDT ever having a EIII?? The one you may be thinking of is the PPS one that was untill recently at Compton Abbas?
What have they done to G-ADGT??
I’m waiting for the legal action from all the disgruntled annoraks who turn up on August 22nd expecting to see the Victor fly ? I do hope Sywell have a contingency plan 😉
I think the disclaimer of “Subject to availability” covers it quite well!!;)
Mine hasnt arrived yet??:(
I’ll post this anyway – it’s the bridge sequence recycled into an episode of Foyle’s War. MH434 with a black-painted spinner, but that’s all the “make-up” they used!
Amazing how it changes colour!!!! Grey/green to brown/Green and back to Grey/Green:p
Here’s one of mine.
Thats the late, and much missed, Paul Morgans G-CCMV. that must have been when it was collected from Sywell and taken to Duxford after it sale following Pauls death.:(
Must dig out some pics i have of her at Sywell.
CC’s Mustang G-SUSY was purchased by much missed friend Paul Morgan and based at Sywell. Paul was tragicaly killed in his Sea Fury G-EEMV “Baby Gorrilla” in a landing accident at Sywell in May 2001.:(
Take note 5€ and wonder why in the UK it’s always so much dearer.
because UK Airshows dont get funding from the local Council like this one Apparently has!!;)
Sadly that has confirmed my fears:(:(
Sad News:( Any news of the names of those killed in the Extra??? or the reg of the A/C. Only asking as it may be someone i met whilst at the Al Ain Airshow a couple of years back:(
