As Low & Slow says, we are looking fwd to visiting in somthing special next year. I flew the Triplane in earlier this year which was a great pleasure and we hope to visit with that again when the Camel visits again.
We also have somthing else in the pipeline which will hopefully live in one of the newly rebuilt hangars when they are ready, its a fantastic place and we wish Russel well and a speedy recovery.
Now that is one of the best suggestions I’ve heard on here since I signed up, large quantity of epic win:cool:
Who could every forget the Milligan marching song using the tune from the Alouette song , with the lyrics “Balls to Jumbo, Balls to Jumbo Jenkins”:D
There was a film made of “Hitler, my part in his down fall” that had Jim Dale playing Milligan.
There is currently a large R/C Model of this flying and it apparently flies very well, i will see if i can find a pic:)
We’re working on trying to arrange a trip to England for the Pitcairn Autogiro
(H.G. Frautschy photo)And in fact have found sponsorship to cover most of the cost, but need a bit more to finish the deal, so if anybody has any contacts over there that might help please let me know. We’d love to bring it to Old Warden and have had interest from a couple of other venues for the June/July 2010 period.
Also, since it won’t quite fit in a 20 foot container we’ll need a 40 footer, which will leave room for another aircraft, and the leading contender right now is a rare civil type which hasn’t been seen in the UK since the 1930s-

Will it still be in the UK in August??
Would love to have it at Sywell on the 22nd of August.
Any hope of news on the Gamecock?? (TexanTomcat?)
Roger Smith.
Not in the near future:(
I’ve been waiting for a great airplane film all of my life…I’m still waiting.
“Blue Max”:diablo:
If you read the interview he clearly states that there is an agreed way fwd with the A/C but there has been no application made. So its appears not the case that the CAA wont let it fly more the operator does not want it to at this time.
Terrible News, thoughts with friends and family. Blue Skies, RIP:(
I seem to remember seeing a Whirlwind flying at an Airshow ,not that many years ago ,it was privately owned ,it must have been about 12 years ago ,anyone know where it is today ?
Terry
I think you may be thinking of the wrong sort of Whirlwind!!:D
Sad news, RIP:(
Taylor Titch G-MISS, pilot has not been named yet but is most likely to be the A/C owner who many on here will know. Very sad new indeed, thoughts as always with friends and family. RIP:(
I vaguely remember seeing a 5/8 scale Mustang replica at the Shoreham Airshow in the late 70s to mid 80s, where it was referred to a as a “Gnatsum” (Mustang Backwards)
That would be the one that crashed at Barton:(
I assume the later as the silence is deafening:(
As soon as you said “not a small scale”, I knew which one it was! 😉
It’s an evil-looking brute, as well! I’m guessing around the 80% scale mark, in keeping with the others.
I suspect its one of the Jurca replica’s, you can even have a 1-1 scale.

The BBMF certainly do charge for appearances. What you have to do is enter a bid for the display charge. They will then look at the income vs the expenditure, hours, transit time, etc. They will then select which events to attend with the aircraft available. Hence we haven’t seen the Lanc display at Sunderland airshow for 2 years. I hasten to add that the BBMF are by far the cheapest option for getting a WW2 warbird to a display.
The RAF have a set charging scheme for all their A/C, including the BBMF A/C.
You have to make a request for what you want to the RAF Events Team and they will let you know if you are going to get it or not. They are however very reasonable rates:)
