Nice to see the Delphin and Auster at Duxford.
Incidentally is that forum member The Blue Max in the second Auster pic?
Rob
Nope š
Currently at Compton Abbas I believe
Private airfield at Rendcomb.
š the RR Spit was there the last couple of days
Really??? Must have been silent and invisible !!!
That should maybe read “decent big budget flying film”. I can only think of one big budget flying film that actually made its money back at the box office – and let’s not go there!!!
The Blue Max was a big commercial success and made money at the box office. Still has its inaccuracy with some of the A/c but at least it uses real aeroplanes. It can be done and there is a place for CGI but you need to use it in conjunction with the real thing.
Wasn’t this the one that they were supposed to be fitting a glass cockpit to?
Apparently they have !
Hi, Iām trying to find a supplier or manufacturer of vinyl roundels who could produce a couple of early Rhodesian Air Force style roundels. Has anyone had anything similar manufactured before? Any pointers very welcome.
Thanks
You could also try Airdale Aviation, they specialise in aviation graphics. Currently doing some stuff for our BE2.

Modern light aircraft and smaller film kit can achieve even longer flights with less problems http://www.pipistrel.si/extras/extreme-flights/matevz-lenarcic-flew-around-the-world-and-set-a-world-record
She really struggled on that Stearman flight and took on big challenge which at times was not safe and could only be attempted by use of the push on regardless attitude. I admire her bravery and feel that her almost fatalistic view is not a good example for how to assess risks but YMMV.
Isn’t that the point!!
However what didn’t come across in the program was that she wasn’t on her own, she had someone in the front cockpit, clear seen in many shots, and she also had a huge pack up team including a Cessna Caravan flying alongside her all the way.
Shame the prog didn’t make more of the team effort rather than trying to make out she was flying alone through Africa.
Anyone got this :
Wanted. A copy of the Haynes Workshop manual for the Bf.109 and any leads to documentation which would assist in the restoration to flying condition of the type with Merlin engine, ex Battle of Britain film, recently secured from the Edwards Collection in the USA. Plenty available on eBay.
Hmm interesting. So just how many SE5s do we have in the UK at the moment? Anyone with a definitive figure is welcome to chip in.
With the recent arrival I make it 5 full size fliers or potential fliers
Hmm, my understanding is that it actually lives on a private strip at Rednal.
It certainly used to, I have seen it there myself.
Andy
Lived at Rednal for awhile after the owner purchased it but has been at Sleap for several years now after the owner constructed a hangar to house it and his other aircraft.
Someone walked into my workshop and gave me mine !!
I wanted to bid but its gone wayyyyy above my kind of money
Good grief !! Best lock the Bank Indicator I have on the shelf in a safe !!!!!
Clipped wing – no centre section.
Arh, yes I can see the centre section, or lack of it, now. I thought it might have some super duper big engine but GINFO shows a C90.
Trying to work out what makes it a “Super” Wot ??
Is there much difference between the British Harvard and the US Harvard?
I think you will find both of those are actually T6’s, which were re manufactured Harvards by North American in the 50s. Quite different in many ways to Wartime Harvards. Especially in terms of hydraulic systems .
