R.I.P. Herve
What terrible news, thoughts with his family and friends 🙁
£1.48 litre (inc) at Goodwood and Cheltenham now
Still £1.90 at West London Hero Club :(:(:(:(
£1.48 is a good price, I thought Sywell was good at £1.75.
As for WW, remind me not to fill up there !!!!
Be interested to know how these pictures were taken, as will Mr Norman because where this is parked is private property and if no permission was gained someone will be very displeased !!
Fokker and Sopwith Triplanes heading West towards Old Warden (?) at 1500 approx today. Didn’t sound like rotaries, more like small radials. From Stow Maries perhaps?
Nope, Out of White Waltham for Duxford press day. Both powered by Warner scarabs.
Breitling Stearmans heading south towards Southend and on to Goodwood Revival I suspect.
Nope, going to France after displaying at Duxford.
A couple of small additions and cancellations to the Participation List for the weekend, including Bruce Dickinson’s (Iron Maiden) first Duxford Display in his Fokker Tri-Plane.
Bruce and his Triplane are not a new addition, the GWDT has been booked for some time, including Bruce and the Triplane 🙂
Wrong RV Mr W.
Moggy
Why wrong ??
Thanks Blue Max ! Looking at the Leisure Sport fleet I mistook her for the Yeovilton example which appears to have forsaken the Warner for Clerget.
Last time I saw the Yeovilton (Slingsby built) Camel it didn’t have anything in it and was dismantled and in store 🙁
Should be flying.
Oh to have that Warner Scarab out of the Brooklands Camel and back on a Fairchild !
Brooklands Camel has never had a Warner, even when with Leasure Sport it had the rotary.
Great shame for all at OW today, I was looking fwd to it!
Impressed the models managed to fly, I would have thought it was to wind for them as well!!
Any adjacent viewing spots?
No.
Any chance of copies of the Messenger pics you took David ?
What I meant to say is that the aircraft have gone thru minor changes since leaving the RAF / Spanish Air Force , most noteably being the Hollywood paint schemes.
They are not “untouched time capsules” but pretty close
But they are 1960’s film set time capsules 🙂 which is of interest to many and I agree with Bruce that these are candidates for very sympathetic return to flight. The simple answer is if you buy them you can do what you please with them.
Is the one in France a TVAL-built example?
Yes it is Dave, was a deal for MF building LVG for TVAL.
Does anyone know if there are any more of the BE2 s around? Reason for asking, having just returned from France, I do believe that I saw something similar dismantled on the quayside at Le Havre early on the 26th June. Eyeballs nearly popped out of my head, but I got moaned at and told to concentrate on driving on the right! It was definitely ww1 era in British markings…
Memorial flight in France have one but I doubt that was at Le havre and ours is safely tucked up in the hangar 🙂
I find some of the pricing on their website interesting ! $180k for a tiger moth and the same price for a full restored P51 as one the hasn’t flown since the early eighties !
