I see no reason why 50% of it would have to be thrown away.

Sympathetic restoration should see it back in the air with 90%+ of its original parts, and the original engine. If it can be done with a bent FW190 from a Russian Forest (OK not quite 90%, but much more than 50!), it can certainly be done with this.

    Bruce

I’m with Bruce, there should be no reason that these could be made airworthy relatively easily without the need for total restoration keeping them very much as they are as a piece of history.
Would be nice to see one of the Buchon’s left as is on static display at Duxford as a BofB film exibit.

I think TVAL produced at least 5 B.E.2 repros, the two Es now in the UK, early and late Cs, and the F now in France.

I know the memorial flight in France like to call there BE2 an ‘F’ but its an ‘E’. a BE2F was actually a ‘C’ that was converted to ‘E’ status later on in the field or some times even at the end of the production line before leaving the factory. so how can you build a replica “F’ unless you build it as a ‘C’ first and then change it to an ‘E’ configuration.
If its built as is then its an ‘E’ !

Yes, it does seen to be about as reliable as a chocolate teapot. I believe that Duxford have publicly stated that they won’t book it due to being let down in the past, and that’s the second time to my knowledge that the Vulcan has pulled a no-show at Old Warden.

And that in a nutshell is why it won’t be booked for Sywell, booked it twice and it failed to show up twice. Caused so much grief with people complaining to us that it didn’t show?

FFS? Perhaps I’m behind the times, but I had no idea that the BBC makes programmes that they have no intention of putting out on their television channels. I have now learned something, as I’ve also learned that there are other BBC WW1 Uncut films. I shall have to go and search them out, as I shall eagerly await this one – even if I do share others’ thoughts that Dan Snow seems a bit of an intrusive presence in much of his otherwise rather good work.

My profound apologies for having a less than perfectly informed opinion.

Exactly my point lazy, making a judgment without all the information, including not even seeing it!

Alan I’m sure. That was said about TV program’s when not everyone had a telly. You obviously use computers or you would not be on here.

I can’t find it on Virgin either. ‘Straight to iPlayer’ doesn’t sound like a ringing endorsement of it’s quality…

Brilliant, not even been on and already being slagged off!!!!!!! FFS !!!

It going straight to Iplayer because that what it was intended for as are all the rest of the BBC WW1 uncut films.
But as it’s so crap it won’t worry you as you wont want to see it anyway.

    Thanks all, most comprehensive!

I presume the trainee in the pilot in charge seat is to ensure their view and experience on first solo is in a familiar position?

    Regards,

The reason the rear seat is used as the pilot in command seat is because. The front seat is virtually on the A/C centre of Gravity, therefore it means that there is very little change in CofG when the passenger or instructor gets out! A/C the used the front seat as P1 usually require ballast if no passenger is carried.

🙁 Sorry to hear that,he sounds like a good chap 🙁
.The Fury i meant flying again, was the one in the USA that tipped over yesterday i can’t believe anyone would let it fly.
Hopefully the one in Sweden will become a nice tribute in time.

It was a Corsair that went over the other day in the USA.

Did the Fury in the USA fly then? i hope not .
Since Paul Morgans death were any modifications put in place on other Furys [pilot protection in the cockpit ] to stop it happening again .

The Sea Fury was imported from the USA and following the accident was sold to Sweden where I believe it still is under rebuild. To be totally honest nothing would have prevented Paul being killed, the ground was so soft the fin and rudder went into the ground by about 3 feet. A tragic loss of a wonderful man and a great friend.

So glad to hear pilot is ok, brings back very bad memories seeing a big piston fighter upside down on the runway like that.

I’ll take it Scotland is completely out of the question. Perhaps a flypast at Edinburgh Tattoo as we don’t have an RAF airshow any more.

It very simple guys, the organisers of any event can request a display/ Flypast and pay the appropriate fee. It ain’t gona just appear, you have to organise it.
Getting quite tiered of the negative wingers, if you want it at your event you have to get off your backside and arrange it. It won’t happen on its own!!!!

I don’t see Duxford in the list when’s that one… I see Little Gransden Air & Car Show is that as far north as it goes, I’m not that familiar with England’s geography.

Sywell is at the moment the furthest North of the published displays, has good road links via M6/M1/A14 for those traveling from further North.

Nice pics, TT. Nothing humble about those at all.

I bet the Storch could fly backwards, given a stiff wind and the right throttle setting!

What’s the radial-engined biplane in the background of the first pic, anyone?

    Anon.

Looks like a Renegade, not radial engined at all it has a rotax in it. It’s a micro light.
