Some stories suggest one of the Fokker D-V11s ground-looped during filming in Ireland. This is not the case. It was wrecked in the United States.

Thats the one thats at the Southern Museum of Flight in Alabama and is now on static display.

Dailee, would be very interested in any info on the two Miles Built SE5’s i would be most interested. Particularly if any drawings come to light. I do have pictures of the A/C durring filming in irelandif you are interested, these were talken by or of my father at the time. He would often give his camera to someone else to take the pctures while he was flying.
I was recently very kindly sent some picture by Lynn Garrison who owned the A/C post “Blue Max”
The one atached was talken of my father taking off for the last time in EI-ARA on the morning of the 15th September 1970 at Weston Aerodrme, Lexilip, Dublin.

    Hi Lynn

Good to see you on here, maybe you should start a new post for the Triplane?

Well put JDK, sums things up perfectly.
I would say that the DA system is there to protect againt the “Cowboy” pilots, if that the right word and im not sure it is really!! I know that in several instances in recent years pilots have been threatened with haveing there DA’s removed if they dont amend their ways, and in some instances where they havent that has happened. Only to be reinstated when they can prove things have changed. It also is the case that other Display Pilots will make the call to the authorities or have a quiet word with the affending pilot. Not a perfect system by any means but im not sure what is, its down to us all to be safe and if someone is contantly pushing the envelope then i hope that the procedures are there to do somthing about it.

    Update from the Daily Mail
”The pilot was flying a light aircraft when he crashed at Fenland Airfield near Spalding (file picture)”

Fair play to the news desk, the picture IS a light aircraft.
I wonder how the owners of NZ feel about this.

Geeez, can they get nothing right 😡

Imagine family or friends of the owners of NZ seeing that in the paper if they didnt know the truth!!!!!

Thoughts go to familiy and friends of the pilot involved, it was indeed the Mickleburgh Sparrow:(

If the vouchers have been purchased via a third party such as play.com or Red letter days etc then they will have not been passed to Delta yet and im sure will be placed with and taken up by other opperators.
For instance, the Harvard rides are not done by Delta, these opperators are still going, they will still do your ride for you. And who knows, these opperators may well take on the Tiger Rides as well??
Lets not have a load of scare mongering from people who dont know as yet what the situation is fully.

I’m not sure. I think its something to do with that the CAA will withdraw her permit to fly if any member of the public is near or within the aircraft unescorted by an engineer. .

    Whaaat!!!

I think you really should be sure of facts before posting things like this.

” the CAA will withdraw her Permit to fly if any member of the public is near or within the aircraft”

    Ive never heard such tosh!!!!

Whatever happens now due to the CAA regs etc, XH558 most likely won’t be rolled out again until it is time for flight testing, .

Sorry, but ive sat in silence and read some utter drivel on here but this takes the biscuit!!

what CAA reg does not allow the A/C to be rolled out and viewed by at least members of its own club if not the General puplic!! although with the proper precautions in place this is still possible!!! Can you tell me where i find that one:confused:

Not so much CAA regs as total incompetence and blaming every one else

Am I missing something here, are Centaurus powered aircraft grounded now?
    What about SFs VR930, VX281 (both RNHF), WG599 G-BWOL, WG655, WH587, WH588 G-EEMV, WH589, VX653 G-BUCM, all of which I thought were Centaurus flyers?

WH588, G-EEMV has not flown since its tragic fatal accident at Sywell May 2001:(

The new owner also brought the spare Centaurus and i understad that he is now intending to refit a Cetaurus rather than his intitial plan to fit a Corn Cob engine.
