Liked your girlfriend’s hat too. Would have hated to see it get blown![/QUOTE]
There must be a smart answer to that somewhere::D
What a smashing thread this is, what the forum is all about:) Carnt add much im affraid apart from she appears to be in “Tiger Force” colours. Facinating stuff.
I understand by talking to some one in the know, she should be gracing the skies over England by the end of this month.
If this is correct well done to all and good luck for the comming events for 2007 which have been ear marked if all goes well.
There’s that understanding of the real world again:rolleyes:
I have not read this thread in great detail but am dismayed by the negitivity of it. I lived in Lincoln for 34 years and remember when I was young and lived 5 miles from Waddington (Between Waddinton and Scampton) we could hear the Vulcans start up, on many occassions my dad would bundle us all in the car and by the time we arrived we would see 4 or 5 Vulcans all taking off line astern. The ground would be shaking, the sky would be full of ‘rust’ as I used to call it from the exhausts. It was a fantastic sight I will never forget. I loved the Vulcan and the strange screeching noises it would make when it was thrown around the air as if in protest.
I just think that it is money well spent as in the times we live and the amount of money that is wasted by the government and the lottery, even if it flys for 1 or 2 years it will leave a lasting impression on the younger generations like it did with me. Ever since those days that we were bundled in the car to see this great sight I have forever been interested in aircraft. I do not work in the field and so have an interest from the outside but as an engineer fully understand the technical issues that need to be overcome to fly these old magnificent achievements of Great Britain in its engineering prime. Will I get excited about a Tornado or Eurobox, no, the British aircraft are the best and remind us of our once greatness.
I commend anyone who works in the field and spends, donates or donates time to achieve this. Whilst I know Britain is no longer great as we have been pilaged by too many corrupt govenments with personnal greed in there minds. They can take our money but not our memmories or our pride.
The Vulcan team have fort many battles, but I for one hope they do succeed if only to prove good old British buldog spirit still survives.. My only regret is that I will not get to see it fly as I have left the country and now live in Reno…… cannot wait for the air races again….
Where else do you get to see 5 furies flying together…. fantastic…
Mark
OK i came back, been to the pub and what do you know:eek: Melve as always you have sumed it all up and said it far better than i could!!!
What alot of you are missing, and not reading what has been said, is that this is not neagative!!!! most here would love to see a Vulcan fly, we are not being negative, we are being realistic about what will happen not what we would like to happen but what will in the real world! Back in box now:D
Erm, hello, anybody in???? Not on maps, not in pooleys, you know why? ITS PRIVATE!!!!! you go there when invited to do so, then you are given the information required.
I will not go on about the issue to much . my support goes to the team of a
Dr . a Rusty old lady and a few others who have when started this project very little about aviation and aircraft restoration.
to see many negative comments from many of the forums . many from so called flyers and restorer’s and being pros’s in there fields to be out done by a few ladies and amateurs will be a bitter pill to swallow i think. why if they are so good have they not got lottery support for their projects or have aircraft flying . simple they are not as clever as they make out. if they cannot get a tiger moth or mossie in the air . when some amateurs can set up something for such a type of aircraft as a Vulcan . they have my respect even if the project failed. maybe if they pull this off this group of people may go for some other project like a mossie or concord who could stop them really
they have out shone almost all the other pro aircraft restorer’s.
Not bad for a small group of nobodies to set up and make this project get to the state it is today.
i take my hat to them . they have been robbed in many ways but they have had the balls and grit to stick with it. they will get it to fly the rest is up to everyone else . they will do what they said and get the Vulcan in the air. after that they can walk away happy that they did what they set out to do,
the rest goes on the folk that want to see it flying all year at shows etc . you will have to pay for that .
do not see the mighty sea vixen haveing much support from the lot that wanted it painted grey and looking right. how good they are. lets let it rot in an hanger .
Read this and thought to myself, no, dont do it just walk away and forget it! the i thought, Bo****ks. And im afraid sir that is what you are talking!
This project has got where it is not only because of lots of hard working people, enthusiasts etc( not to sure they will be happy about being called nobodies!!!!) but also due to the envolvement of many skilled and qualified engineers and the people at Marshalls Aerospace. Oh and also becuase of being given £5.3 million, many other groups and aircrft resorers would kill for that kind of funding and belive me could get alot of Tiger Moths and Mossies, and many other A/C flying.
In short sir, as flipflopman has said, you really do need a *******ing big reality check. Going away now and will not be back:mad:
Here’s an idea (Probably already been thought of) Vulcan fly’s down crowd line with Bomb doors open with the winning lottery no’s for the previous week on display for all to see. What an opportunity for Camelot to have their winning numbers seen by a different crowd of people. Perhaps even saying “Sponsored by Camelot” If only they would put a bit more cash in to have the largest advertising opportunity fly by.
How about flying down the crowd line with the next weeks winning numbers on display, now that would be a winner:D About as realistic as most of the other posts on here:eek:
Hi All ,
Doees any one have any data on Rendcome, I need to renew my Display Authorisation and will have to fly there from Ireland. Cannot find it on any map chart or GPS. Does it have a designator, would any one know contact person, phone number, frequency, runway length/ with runway direction? or even lat and long fo the field so as to programme the GPS?Kind regards,
James Griffin
Rendcomb is a private airfield, if you dont already have contact info then you shouldnt be going there? Have you arranged with someone to renew your DA there??
Blimey, the one in the green woolly poncho thing and jeans is nice! :p
Met her for the first time today, and yes she is:D
Look like they are still using the same silver suit that “Blue Peter” presenter Sarah Green used at Sywell in 1983:eek:
Well, thats basically my question but not in usual in ya face, bull in a china shop Bex method of asking, thanks Blue Max, maybe now we might get a sensible answer……… future reference can I PM u with questions for translation? :dev2: Bex
Feel free:D
Thank God that in 1982 the national character was a bit more ‘can do’ than displayed on this thread. Otherwise the only thing we’d be commemorating this year would be the 25th year of Argie occupation of the Falklands… is it so hard to wish the guys putting her back in the air good luck at least?
If you don’t want to part with any cash then fine; if you have doubts about it then fine, but this constant harping can only demoralise a bunch of good people who have put heart and soul into this project.
Displaying a bit of “can do” is great DB, but also displaying a bit of “Lets be realistic” would be good to  As one who poors time and money into their own aeroplane on a much, much smaller scale , i have every admeration for those who have put their heart and sole into any project, but this is not comercially viable to keep flying even if it ever gets off the ground. i for one was not harping on and have not made any comments about this project in the past, this was a statement that “Airshow Bookings are not forthcoming, be realistic, without a huge sponsor it will not be affordable for most Airshows, and if they are not expecting to raise money from Airshows then how!!!!???
Despite the promises of a few airshow organisers 558 is not booked to appear at any airshows this year.
As an Airshow organiser i would love to have the Vulcan as an item but doubt very much that the budget would allow, unless it was the only item which would make it a very short Airshow!!!!
I fear that the money would be wiser spent on several other worthy display items.
Also if they are short of money now then how the H**l are they going to opperate the bl**dy thing?? It would be very Nieve to think that it will earn its keep with Airshow bookings, im sorry, it wont!
That’ll be Sarah.
Get down Shep! – again! 😀
Mrs BM says i can look as long as i dont touch:D and if i touch i better not get caught :diablo:
How was Abingdon?
