I’ve been trying to ID the aircraft parked outside, Wellingtons, Oxfords or Ansons?
Look like they had quite short nose’s to me. Whirlwinds??
Hi Blue Max,
Were video recorders around when Wings was first aired on TV, my family didn’t get there first one until 1981, Did the BBC ever show it again.
A great series that deserves a DVD release.
Septic.
Hi Septic
No not many people had VHS recorders when the series first aired, it was shown again on UK TV Gold and i have managed to get a few episodes that were recorded at that time.
Well, I do have a pic of the replicas made from Tiger Moths I believe.
Now where have i seen that before
As Melv said, anything is possible just take money 😀
Nigel
Bottom left BE12a (difffers from the latr BE12 and BE2 series by only having a single outer strut each side).
Regards
Chris
Close, BE2e. The 12 had a bigger engine and intitialy was still double bay.
ah ah, really funny…
all the taildraggers can do a groundloop, some of them are more inclined to do it than others. The T-6 was a trainer, and not one of the easiest ones, especially for a pilot with 0 hours. It is still used today as a trainer for advanced warbirds, and that’s why sometimes here and there ground loops on T-6 pop out.
Alex
Never!! you dont say, well bless me 😀
Thats the one 😉 I figured it was a mock up, just wondered if anyone new for sure?
Back to the actual film  Anyone know which DR1 it is down at Manston? As per the pic in FP, is it G-ATMJ or is it a groung rep made for the film?
Owner at Eaglescott is a Mr Barry Pearson. Think its only flown once since arrival at this North Devon airfield.

Now there’s a supprise 😉
Superb!! i heard it this afternoon over a phone! look fwd to seeing it in the flesh! 🙂
[QUOTE=T6flyer
As to the dreaded groundloop….well it happens at one stage or another in everyone’s Harvard careers. I have witnessed it first hand from the backseat on a number of occasions.
Martin[/QUOTE]
i dont think its complusary!! :p
Perhaps this is ‘Standard Crosswind technique’ in Italy!
Still, could be worse
Double ouch 😀
It was Ex-Hamburg, restored by Rex Ford at Sywell over about 6 years flew 2000/2001 for first time after rebuild- then sold to Barry ………? at Eaglescott -last year after languishing outside at Cranfield for 2+years. Ferry pilot I believe was Bob Moore (nice chap).
Nicknamed ‘Northamptonshire Rose’ – flew in it half a dozen times 🙂
Blue Max maybe can add more
TT
I dont think i’ll bother
But at least it reminds people that there was a WW1! not just a WW2. And anyway you aint seen it yet, i suspect you will not see it at all! so how can you coment? im sure there are going to be many gringe worthy moments, the Zeppelin just one 😮 But i for one are willing to give it the benifit of the doubt untill i have at least seen it
My typing skills are not sufficient to get into words what I think of this on just a short piece of trailer.
A Complete load of American Sh*t will have to therefore fulfil what I’d really like to say.
Why not just completely disregard history and make up a fantasy–because that’s what this complete and utter, utter, utter load of b*llocks is.I’d prefer to see Harry Potter.
I think I’ve got my feelings across here.
All the best
Andy
Yes its fantasy, its a F**King Film for F**K sake, just take it for what it is not get all high and mighty that its not 100% historicaly acuarate. Its designed to be an evenings entertainment not a History lesson!!!!!! 😡
And who knows it might just interest one or two people enough to go find out more and come visit place like OW and then they can be educated 😉
