That looks post-apocalyptic! ๐ฎ
“Internationales Luftfahrt Museum” at Villingen-Schwennigen in the south-west of Germany
Thanks – interesting place, not heard of it before.
By way of clarification rather than an attempt to obtain a premature clue, can you say whether it is a gyroglider or a gyrocopter without its engine in situ?
The tow hook on the nose provides a clear clue as well ๐
Well I’m done Googling… can’t find this. Interesting location. Please let us know where this photo was taken once someone comes with the solution ๐
NB. That’s Howard Hughes machine to be precise.
Sorry, it will have to be open house as I can’t manage to post a picture. ๐
Try this: once you start writing your reply, under “Reply to Thread” there’s another field “Additional Options”. Click the “Manage Attachments” button. A pop-up opens. Click one of the “Browse…” buttons and select your image file. Click “Upload”. Once finished you can close this window and your attachment will show as soon as you submit your reply.
Hope this helps.
Most aircraft posted are new to me, many have fascinating histories (the sail plane for instance!) and the game itself is like a puzzle to me. It’s fun and innocent, if you don’t like it, just ignore it.
On with the show… Rosevidney1 your turn.
Right country
No surprises there! ๐
I think it’s a Dewoitine (because of the wing)… the question is which one? I venture a guess at the D.14. No clue what it looks like, as I can’t find an image, but the D.14 is a 1920s monoplane, single engine civil transport with possible medical variant development of it (D.14S)… this plane seems it could be it.
Anyhow, kindly take us back to the real world, RAB!
Or don’t, I quite enjoyed that one! Curious to see if RAB can top it! ๐
Looks like you’re right. A quick Google revealed this cool eBay photo:
http://pictures.historicimages.net/pictures/_2/1008/1007438.jpg
The photos were made by the tail camera of another B-25. The cartridges come from the tail gunner firing at this ship or hopefully another.
But yes, that’s LOW! ๐ฎ
But indeed, look at those shadow(s). This REALLY is low… ๐ฎ
Shadows? That’s the reflection in the water, meaning the actual height is precisely HALF this much!
Argh my bad! I intended to post a different glider but uploaded the wrong picture and failed to realise this! ๐ฎ
Yes you are right, the picture I posted is that of the Rubik R-23 Gรฉbics!
The picture I intended to post is the one I described in the hint, but I’ll keep that one for the next time…! Sorry for the confusion, I even confused myself! ๐ฎ
Your turn AA!
*hides in shame*
Time for a hint, me thinks: it’s a high-performance glider, first flown in 1933. Two were built. One was flown regularly till 1939, then put in a transportation museum where it was destroyed in an air raid in 1944.
Haha awesome, thanks! ๐

This F-16 clip one was taken only yesterday on the 30th of October at Volkel AFB.

That Tornado is madness by the way… bit too close for comfort no matter how great a pilot he may be.
Something without so many engines and slightly smaller and lighter…
