I got the Sigma 18-200 and Canon 100-400 and am very pleased with that combo. The 50-500mm seems attractive but at 1.7 kg a bit insanely heavy to carry around your neck all day. I’d say the 100-400 is the most popular airshow lens around – for a good reason.
Great bunch of shots, Gary! 😎
Lovely photos mate! The B-25/A-26 combo is stunning! I bet you’re pleased with that one!
Heres some pic i managed to obtain (…) This shows the action rather well
It does indeed. Quite a smack.
And hey… in the distance there’s that man with the hat again – completely oblivious to the action! 😀
Hmmm where have I seen the guy with the hat before…? 😀
I don’t really wish to sign up to yet another forum, so I’ll comment here if that’s ok?
I was standing in the field across the M11 near the town of Duxford, when Miss Helen came in for landing. The engine sounded extremely rough – not like a Merlin at all – and I think the pilot lost power just at the critical moment since as soon as it passed over the bushes surrounding the M11 it dropped like a brick out of sight. I held my breath only to see it reappear a moment later under a very steep angle, after what must have been a tremendous bounce. I was almost expecting to see a smoke plume next but luckily that didn’t happen, but it was obvious something had gone wrong when the next planes pulled up their gear and went around and landed on the runway instead. From where I was standing I am amazed Miss Helen didn’t end up on her belly or worse and I am very glad the pilot is OK and the plane appears repairable. It was a very scary sight.
Very cool photos! Thanks for posting.
Very slick photos, nicely cropped. What camera/lens combo are you using?
I Apache photo looks like it could’ve come from the Boeing website 😎
They only thing that frustrates me about Duxford is that if the sun is out, you’re facing it… until very late afternoon.
Good thing that doesn’t happen too often then! :dev2:
Very nice photos!
I’m just about done packing my flippers and water wings for tomorrow… bring on the monsoon! :p
The last two were posted before, but I didn’t mind seeing them again – esp. that An-26 😀
Here’s one that most definitely disqualifies: (photos were posted before)

OneEightbit – Very nice, I hope you’ll do more aviation related stuff in the future!
PaulC – Lovely painting, very original concept and perspective. I like it a lot!
Here’s a nice shot of a very low flying P-47N with what looks like some kind of camera equipment.
Hehe awesome. I see they’re (a bit too) comfortable with those Apaches 🙂
