Thanks Dean!
Just had a look on your site, quite like Ziggy! 🙂 I will add some animal photos to my site in the near future too, for variety’s sake.
Good work on the low-shutterspeed Spitfire pic. How fast was that? 1/30th?
My record so far is 1/20th. I didn’t actually have a choice then, it was that dark!

The coming season I intend to use low shutterspeeds a lot more. The success rate may be as low as 10% but the results are well worth it!
In the meantime I’m adding more aircraft photos, such as the first Old Warden gallery.

Many more to follow! 😀
Hopefully! 😀
But can you post the sound and smell too? 🙂
As I’m only going to Holland, it looks like I’m gonna try and fly back for one day! That way I should be able to catch most of the show. I just can’t miss it! Definitely one of the highlights of the year for me. If I book the flight early it will not cost me that much more than car petrol (I live 100 miles from Duxford). Just need to work out transport from Stansted to Duxford and back for the day…
That’s a classic… If you do a search you may find some heated discussions about this movie on this forum 😉

😀
The new photogalleries are online now! Simply click the link in my signature to go to my website…
Neat low pass of an F-14 during an airshow… about 40 seconds into the movie:

Cheers Ollie 🙂
Wasn’t there a case once of a fish strike on an airliner? Something with a bald eagle dropping a salmon I believe 🙂
You do NOT want to sneeze when doing that! 😀
Here’s the relevant topic with some amazing pics:

It’s a disaster waiting to happen though…
Interesting site that – especially the restoration page. Lots of fantastic reference material – thanks a lot!
And look at those TWO Corsairs of the FAS, rotting away in some field. Amazing… Wish they’d restored them in authentic FAS colours tho…
That’s a better picture! Many thanks!
That Corsair looks messy… but nowadays they could make it fly again 😀
PS. Pictures showing up now, I hope? 🙂
Amen.
Very nice!
@ 1:34 minute: drool!
@ 1:42 minute: total drool! That’s one of the best single shot air to air footages I’ve ever seen. I totally love that perspective!! I’d buy the DVD for that shot alone 🙂
Where was it from anyway? I’ve seen it before on telly I think…
Loudest… that must be Antonov An-22 landing on Amsterdam airport sometime in the late ’90s I think. The airport got a record amount of complaints then and the type was instantly banned from Dutch airspace, if I remember correctly.
Man those four contra turbo props were totally awesome. I used to live a good 25 miles from the airport (so the plane was still fairly high) and the windows were shaking for several minutes! That was landing too. Can’t imagine what full power must sound like…
Bunch of German Tornados and Phantoms leaving the RIAT was load too, but not terribly exciting perhaps 🙂
And the Tu-22M the same year wasn’t terribly loud (as it didn’t leave that day) but was definitely my most unhealthy aircraft encounter in terms of exhaust fumes. I wouldn’t be surprised to get lung cancer in the future from inhaling all those terribly smelly and hot half burnt Ukranian kerosene fumes for over half an hour. I am sure a lot of you will remember…
So… what was it? 🙂
