I emailed sefton council about this and thaey said check the website for updates today. Has been updated

but no time, although the air dispaly is from 1 till 5
From what i can geter from the newspaper report the microlight attempt is going to be at the airshow??? A microlight 39 000 feet up is going to be rly easy to spot lol
What about the short seamew, a pretty ugly looking aircraft to say the least.

Saturday looks the worst day with an iron overcast predicted as well as rain.
Less chance of rain on Sunday.
Here is something interesting I found, a world altitude record in a microlight at soutport airshow.

Anyone got any more info?
Is it just me or is the vulcan being at soutport a bit low key apart from this forum and and the tvoc website there has been no other coverage I can find, even the offical southport website still states
“Q. Will the Vulcan XH558 be at the Southport Air Show?
A. No, the Vulcan XH558 is not scheduled to be at the show.”
If i had sponsored XH558 i would be shouting it from the rooftops, but thats just me 😀
Did later marks of the lightning have the twin cannon above the nose removed and placed in the ventral pack only, think due to mussle flash? Also the pack could be used for reconnisance.
Yeah Defiant and Battle are close contenders but I think Defiant has the advantage:
Battle was crap because it was outdated almost immediately it entered service and was employed in poor tactics. But the Defiant was crap by design. Fundamentally flawed (no forward firing weapons and the turret made it under-performing).
The only thing the Defiant succeeded in defying was common sense!
I remember seeing either a lancaster or a halifax fitted with a defiant turret, surely that has to be -1 for uselessnes??? 😀
I stand corrected it is on the tvoc website, go to news then search southport, strangely enough this doesn’t appear in latest news. However it still doesn’t say which days XH558 will be present but a press release is due shortly…
Sorry for all the questions but does the APU carry on running in flight because if both engines fail it would have to start up pretty quick or is that what the batteries are for, to power the electrical systems while the APU gets going?
This is amazing news its made my day noting offical on the tvoc website yet, anyone know if it will be there sat or sun or both?
I found versions of these books on amazon printed in 2001 does anyone know if this is an updated version or a reprint, thanks.
If both engines failed it would be time for pilot and aircraft to consider going their separate ways, wouldn’t it?
Very good point, does this mean that there is no back up system for generating power? I know the vulcan had a RAT and I think the f-15 had a power plant that burnt hydrazine anything similar used?
If the fcs is quadrupally redundent then what happens if both engines fail, is there some back up system like a RAT? Four computers without power are no good to anyone 😀
