G’Day Guys, The Xmas tree reminds me to say thankyou and Seasons Greetings. I appreciate the photos and comments shared herein. Best wishes from Perth, Western Australia:cool:
G’Day there, amazing project. Much respect!
G’Day All, I realise its “Heathrow in the 50’s’. As a young guy I spent a lot of my time After school, during school, weekends at Heathrow in the mid to late 60’s. My family moved to Australia in 1969. Used to hang out with two guys, Peter Lowder and Steve Chinnery. Are they still around? Regards form Perth, W.A.
G’Day Guys, many thanks for sharing these magnificent photos and reports. Thanks also go to all those who keep these magnificent aircraft in such wonderful condition:cool:
Glorious
What a wonderful few days at Duxford. To see the aircraft un-cramped and with a bit of light on them. Well done everyone, thanks for the photos!
G’Day Guys. As we can see by a new thread and the number of responses, people are interested. If a large plot of land, possibly being used by the USA at present, complete with hangars, runways and other infrastructure were turned over to a national airliner museum. Half way there comes to mind.
G’Day All, just to add my dollars worth. I agree with getting a couple of (very) large hangars for airliner sized aircraft. Because once they are gone, that’s it. Then occasionally people start talking about reproductions of the same? If Duxford itself is not large enough, maybe somewhere close by, as per Washington’s NASM and the Udvar Hazy example. The now partial example of the BOAC 707 comes to mind. It would of been great to have kept the complete airframe. The sad fact is money talks. If you have that, great things can be achieved. I have nothing but the utmost respect for those who have made Duxford what it is and the volunteers who give their time and effort are applauded any aviation enthusiast worldwide.Lets not lose any more aircraft we cannot replace even if there are one or two around the globe. As always regards to all who put info and photos on this site, amazing.
G’Day All, as usual DCW’s efforts are excellent. The engine compilation only makes you wonder what it would be like to hear them all doing there thing! Best wishes for the festive season, stay warm 😎
Trident and VC10
G’Day All,
Those two shots so remind me of Heathrow as a kid in the winter light. Leaning over the fence watching stuff going in all directions. Would like to extend thanks to all on this forum for the photos and interesting pieces from myself so very far away.
Merry Christmas from the Land Downunder.
G’Day Guys, saw the note about USS Intrepid, New York. Whilst interesting I personally don’t believe Duxford has anything to be taught by it. Duxford is unique, totally. Having only been able to visit twice over the years, I am in awe of what everyone involved achieves. If a quilt show provides funds to keep it going, fine by me (nothing wrong with a good quilting). Intrepid I saw before and after it was made health and safety conscious. Before was 100% better. I thank all who contribute to this site. I hope to have my ashes scattered in the middle of Duxford to watch the goings on for ever. According to my wife 2.30 this arvo is looking disctinctly possible:cool:
G’Day one and all. Now that the silly season is upon us. I would like to say thanks for all the great info and photos to the 2013 thread. I’m looking forward to the 2014 season. Just to let you know, the rest of the week is 35-36 Celsius:cool:
G’Day all. Certainly hope a VC10 is preserved by the RAF. As always, hard to find a whole one when reduced to a memory. Should be standard that one of each retiring aircraft is preserved for the future. Regards from Oz
G’Day David, great to see you back with us. Over the past decade have had two opportunities to visit Duxford from W.A. This thread is a daily ritual. Wife’s happy no crying myself to sleep.
G’Day all. DCW’s Diary is as important a daily read as my own e-mail’s. Originally thought it was missing due to curvature of the earth problems getting to western oz. Hopefully we will see a return. regards to all who participate on the particular forum in question.
G’Day All. I’m sure the Airfix Box art is on the other side somewhere. What a great site this is.
